I mean I guess, but there are 3 out of 5 in my area that are private. The judges and prison bowners (doctors etc) are filling bthem up with people who barely deserve to be there. Judges getting kickbacks for filling them up with non violent offenders etc. it’s definitely a problem

Yup I worked with a dude making $11/hr and had to give his wife $200 a week for his 2 kids. After taxes his check was nothing. He lived in his car for a while but always payed it. Luckily he finally had it reduced. Another dude was paying a huge amount due to his good job. He got fired and started working for way less wage, and asked the judge to reduce the payments accordingly. Judge said, no, you were able to make good money once before, so there is no reason you can’t again.
