I'm happy in my marriage but it can be hard when mainstream media and short content providers frequently tell everyone that all relationship problems are the man's fault and up to him to fix.

Thank you for sharing that perspective. It's not one I see written out often. I'm painfully aware that women can be guilty of SA as well. It's just not reported as often. I only meant that the fear is very real and present for many. I could have phrased that better in hindsight.

Sure but online comments are a cesspool to begin with. There's were comments on a recent disabled person's profile that said his wife married him for charity. There's also a trend that literally compares men to various dog species. Any one users observations will be heavily weighted towards their own algorithms. All I can say is that my personal experiences have led me to believe that both genders have it hard in different ways.

IMO, the problems in the western world are mostly societal issues that are hard for either gender to fully understand (with the exception of Trans people perhaps). If you listen to women talk about their issues, many of them are actually issues combating what other women portray as the standard or what other women might think about them. The exception is of course SA, which is a very real fear for many women especially if it has previously happened to them or to a close loved. The same is often …

The argument you found on Twitter is a fallacy at best, but definitely reads like straight up sexism. For starters, the human race would die out if one gender dies out. Also, a truly misandristic society would absolutely have hate and discrimination in their laws, leading to the death of men.

You have been repeatedly sexually harassed and she has attempted to groom you for it. In theory, this should be brought forward to your HR but I understand based on your comments that this isn't your current desire. You're not insane, this woman sounds like a terrible person and I hope her fiance sees that before they get married.

Oof this one rings true. If men trying share their emotions they're are labeled all sorts of things from defensive to wimpy. Society trains us to be stoic but then criticizes us for being so.

It may be a matter of perspective. Some men communicate in a more aggressive or defensive manner. If you are used to this, it probably doesn't phase you and you can have a productive conversation with that person. If you are intimidated by this, you may tell yourself that the person isn't listening to you and withdraw from the conversation before any meaningful discussion was made. So I think it depends a bit on perception and I think women can often mistake confidence or passion for aggression …

My wife had a similar reaction when I told her I'd choose the bear too because most bears will ignore you. With a stranger you're playing a lottery. Maybe you get some outdoor expert. But you could also get someone who is violent or manipulative. Most likely you gain a liability of someone (man or woman) who probably doesn't know how to get out of the woods. Somehow this was dismissing women's fears, even though I agreed with her about the potential for violence. I do understand though why many …

Imo men will keep leaving the left until they actually view gender equality as a unified issue rather than a women's issue. In my experience, most men bend over backwards to help support the women in their lives. Certainly there are bad apples but most want to help. For their efforts, many (not all) are called mommy's boys, simps, or simply just told they aren't doing enough (chores, romance, conversation, finances etc) to many other names. At some point the left needs to understand men leaving …

I'll get downvoted but I disagree with the main principle. I may be in oddity in this group in that I'm a Pro-Life. Excluding rape, both parents made a choice to have sex and both should have to support the results of that choice. If neither want the baby, then adoption is always an option. That being said, I do agree that the current laws don't make sense. As it stands, abortion is a mess with regard to parental rights. Women can terminate if they want, even if the father wants to keep and rais…

I agree that Moral Absolutistism are a big problem. It is isolating and divisive. At best, culture and society stagnate if you only associate with people who agree with you. At worst it leads to war.

Not really. Most wild animals avoid humans. A randomly selected human is at worst a threat, but most likely they will be a liability.

I said I would choose the bear over any stranger regardless as to their gender but was told that was dismissive of women's feelings.

Modern society seems convinced that there has to be a victimized minority. In reality, each gender, race, etc have their own unique challenges that can really negatively impact those groups. Ideally, we would all work together to eliminate those barriers for everyone, rather than pointing figures and crying about who has it the worst.

This comes up a lot here, so I'll probably get downvoted on this subreddit but take some responsibility. No birth control is 100% effective. I promise you it's worth it as fatherhood is more rewarding than anything else I've ever done. But ultimately, don't have sex with a partner if you're not prepared for that potential outcome with them.

Couple of thoughts: I think the popularity of the Simpsons is a part of this. Many writers, whether live action or animated, have copied the family dynamics of the Simpsons to try to cash in on their successful formula. I'm not sure that I agree with all of the good-parent bad parents pictured in the photos, but that's probably missing the forest for the trees. There were definitely some iconic father figures in the 90s, Boy Meets World certainly comes to mind. However, aside from the Girl Mee…

Hopefully more data will become available with courts slowly becoming more fair. Newer generations are also being ore selective and waiting to have kids. Could lead to lower divorce rates and fewer single parents. Could also just lead to more people staying single and not having biological kids. Time and future studies will tell on that too.

It's hard to say. Some studies indicate that single fathers don't have the same mental health problems that single mothers do, and many indicate that they're more financially stable, but beyond that there hasn't been a lot of research done on single father homes. They may have been included in some single parent research, but even there the numbers would have been dwarfed by the single mothers.

Ditto. Paying my wife through college and doing the chores so she has time to study. Before anyone jumps on her, she's great, she did the same for me during my college years.

Likely an outlier due to the UK banning ceremonies during covid. I'd be interested to know what the UK marriage rates were in 2021 and 2022. Suspect it was higher to compensate. In general I support marriage. It makes for healthier and more stable families. Everyone just needs to be careful, selective and responsible when dating to find the right person.

Sounds like you are paying well over 50% of the costs and getting unfairly treated for your efforts. She shouldn't have any authority to bar you from attending school functions. If you ex isn't being a good parent I would definitely consider going back to court and trying for full custody or a more even financial plan. How does your kid feel about it all? Depending on their age/state the court may ask them their opinion.

Couple of things to consider: Feminists often complain how hard life is for women. I don't inherently disagree that women have some things stacked against them, but so do men. We have social expectations and body image issues too. You'll see many here on this forum say that women have it easier. Many on feminist forums will say the opposite. The grass is always greener on the other side. Most of us support equality here. However, equality should mean equal rights, not flipping the script so that…

You're taking that quote out of context. The paper is debating the determination of personhood and human rights and presents the two main theories on the matter. Which are that personhood begins at fertilization, or it occurs later. This quote is merely explaining that second hypothesis, not necessarily endorsing it. The conclusion of the study rejects the above hypothesis and supports the first hypothesis. It states "In light of the biological evidence and philosophical arguments discussed here…

I'm not sure your source information is correct. Sexual assault is a felony in most states. In Florida, it's actually the wrong term as they use "Sexual Battery" instead, which is also a felony. That being said, "Rape" would also be the wrong term as they again use "Sexual Battery" instead. Again, all 5 charges are listed in the article. All 5 of them are felonies in Florida.

The story is actually rather damming (and rightfully so). I mean, the first sentence literally calls it a sexual assault. They also list all of the charges. The romantic relationship is actually another charge to add on that it was grooming and happened more than once.

Therapists are human too, male or female some are good, some mean well but just miss the mark. My best therapist was a woman. Both ky wife and and I used her and she was great. Push come to shove she normally sided with me but it was more about improving communication and understanding than who was right or wrong. We've since moved and everything is better now, but I wish we could still use her even just on a monthly basis. I know this is anecdotal but my point is don't rule out all therapists b…

This is actually a great read. Not just for the stats that are very enlightening, but for the discussion on empathy. Equality of any kind mostly comes down to empathy. It's a skill that's taught in kindergarten yet it's lost on many by the time they hit high school, let alone adulthood.

I'd argue most middle class people can do it with a few lifestyle choices that wouldn't qualify as pauper. For instance, if the stay at home spouse makes meals from scratch, or better yet grow their own food, you'll save a lot on groceries. You don't have to pay for childcare either so you save more money there. Also, if you buy used vehicles instead of new you'll save money on cost and insurance. Just as a few examples. It can vary by country, family size and circumstance for sure, but it's doa…

There's a fair amount of research that indicates having one stay-at-home parent is really healthy for families regardless as to which parent it is. Unfortunately, a stigma often exists against doing so, especially for stay at home dads. Hopefully the stigma (for both genders) will diminish but for many families that will require their country to have a stronger/larger middle class so that they can afford to live that lifestyle.

Made that mistake once and while it didn't result in any kids, it took years to recover from it. My advice is to never drink to the point that you can't get yourself home safely.

Not saying you're wrong for your answer, in fact I support it. However for other commenters, please know that women face many of the same problems you do when trying to get sterilized, especially if they're young, unmarried and/or childless. This is just for context as they may have similar frustrations. It doesn't mean anyone has the right to tell you to get snipped. Also, I'd encourage you all not to call women names. It is immature and does nothing to help our cause.
