Awww, I enjoyed the show for what it was. If you buy into something like that as what life should be or really is, that's on you. I thought the show was in turns hilarious, poignant, and unapologetic delicious fluff in a time when I needed some humor and fluff. And the show doesn't have anything to do with her actual views as a person, whatever those views may be.

I'm not disagreeing with the stance in this thread at all, but where does it specifically call out black or hispanic men? The opinion piece does not specify race of the alleged harrasser, only the gender--does the video show a disproportional amount of black and hispanic men cat-calling the women that made the video?

Feminists (and others) do object to rape fantasies because to them it fetishizes "rape culture" and allows them to control what consenting people do in their own bedrooms. Rape is an all-gender issue because all genders get raped. To hush it up and not talk about it is censorship of the worst kind. We need to talk about it so that rape victims of all genders feel more comfortable about reporting rape. "Rape culture" exists--in prisons. It's the only place where rape happens and no one gives a sh…

I don't see a single fucking thing about "I began to feel unhappy in my marriage so I talked to my husband like an adult with self respect." Zero responsibility for her own actions, blames an affair on the marriage itself as an excuse for betraying her marriage vows. Unbelievable.

What the hell is wrong with having a balance? Or is it because she said she's 50% masculine? I'm confused about how this is controversial or damning. I'd likely say something similar if asked if I'm a feminist. No, I'm not. I think men shouldn't be shunted aside in favor of women, we should all have the same rights (including reproductive) and the same opportunities and the same ability to choose how we live our lives as long as we aren't negatively affecting someone else. I want to be a housewi…

Receiving criticism is not an acceptable reason for an unnecessary procedure on another person long before the other person can even understand what is happening. "We are going to make sure he can make the choice himself when he is old enough to understand and decide." is all the response you should give if you feel a need at all to reply. I'm glad you didn't just hop on the "oh, it's just what we do to little boys" bandwagon and are actually wanting to understand why. I sincerely hope you decid…

I'm for letting my son decide, when he's able to make an informed decision and understands exactly what he's going to be going through. I'm not making that decision for him and I don't think it's anyone's right to do such a thing. Men can get circumcisions later on and some do to avoid the social stigma this ever-so-articulate person has addressed as their reason for mutilating their son's genitals. Some men go their whole lives content with having an intact foreskin and many understand that if …

I like egalitarian myself, though I do inform people that I'm also a men's rights activist because while I want equality for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation etc., I tend to be more sympathetic towards men's rights because I believe that men are becoming undervalued in current society. I'd say more but I just wanted to suggest another term to use.

If you enter into a relationship and you aren't on the same page with sex you have quite a bit of talking that needs to happen before the relationship moves forward. No, there shouldn't be an "expectation" for sex but -most- people enter into a relationship with a general understanding that sex and/or intimacy of some kind is going to be involved. For most people it's a very important part of a relationship, for men and women, and communication is absolutely required or you have the sort of situ…

I feel a tiny twinge of irritation that /r/pics is sometimes home to pictures that could probably be better represented in a different subreddit but it's not a perfect system. I'm not being forced to open those thumbnails or links and it's not that difficult to skim over them or just head on over to /r/ladyboners and observe my own eye candy. I don't think it's mysogyny. We just can't seem to get out of it, can we? All I can do is differ to his decision since he's the one that will be hurt the most if something happens in the future, no matter how hard I will try to avoid any situation that could potentially screw him over. The system is in desperate need of reform.

I was always certain I would be married again (first marriage fell apart due to young age, maturing beyond where my ex was content with being and realizing we weren't good for each other) but after talking to the man I am in love with right now I'm less inclined. When society insists that men only want one thing, a thing that is sensationalized as being wrong even as it is slathered all over our daily lives, it makes men and men's concerns easier to dismiss. It encourages disrespect and the thinking that men can be controlled by that "thing". This kind of thinking is harmful to everyone. It enourages women to not trust men and they are rewarded for their bias because of the entire fallacy surrounding it, thus keeping laws that favor women during court pr…

I like how they try to remove and absolve all responsibility the woman has, as if she is exactly what feminists seem to think women are--defenseless, helpless little creatures that must be told how to act, how to raise their children and how to fight against men at every turn. If a woman is going to force a man into having sex with her, the child that is created is her responsibility. It was her actions and decisions that led to a child being born, and as we all know single female parents with children have support from the state to help provide for the child. I understand that the man is involved in the conception but it was not his choice or aqcuiescence that led to the child being created. I understand what the article is trying to say but happiness is something defined by an individual. What makes me happy obviously isn't going to be what makes other women happy, and there's nothing wrong with that. I am glad that strides have been taken, laws changed and expectations overthrown to allow women to have the ability to achieve pride, satisfaction and fullfilment in their lives in whatever way they choose, without needing a man to provide for them. Everyone should have that ability a…

That quote is awful and infuriating. Firstly they admit that a man may not want to have it done, so quick! Do it while he can't say no! Secondly, there IS pain, clearly. Why does it matter how much pain it is, truly, when there's no real reason to cause that pain? Watch a video of a baby being circumcised. If I saw my son screaming so piteously, writhing in pain and bleeding for no good medical reason I'd be ready to kill the person hurting him. Waving off a child's suffering is disgusting. Thir…

I think what men would like to see is an end to this idea: Women are abused/raped/disrespected/treated unequally, therefore: Men can't complain about being abused/raped/disrespected/treated unequally when they are abused/raped/disrespected/treated unequally. The fight should not be between genders, it should be against those who do wrong against other people. No matter what the case may be. If a man said, "I don't think it's appropriate behavior to talk about men's asses in the women's restrooms (which happens, I promise) and the women listening should put a stop to it," this bitch would be up in arms. Troll or not Sharon has always struck me as one of those women (not all are like that of course but there is a type I've encountered, and she's it) who will never realize that she's done something offensive. She got a laugh out of it, she has no respect for the men (and women) that are offended by this and she never will. The overall point is valid--I'm outraged at this display of complete disrespect for a really horrible thing that happened and the light-heartedness in which they "discuss" it as well, but to continue the hate brigade isn't the way to do it. I talked to a close male friend about this and he found it absolutely unforgivable. Legal action is a possibility but if his mother-in-law had done something like this at the very least she'd never see her grandchildren, never have visits for holidays, nothing. Cut off. Her behavior here is not your responsibility and while you can still make the decision without a child complicating things I'd suggest seriously thinking about a separation at least. It may help you gain some perspective on the situation, and maybe she needs some time to figure out what she really wants. "Often chivalrous behavior is appropriate. It is just important to know when you are crossing the line." Jesus, you can't even just be nice to anyone anymore. My ex boyfriend almost never held the door open for me and it never bothered me that much. Please let this bring some much-needed attention to the plight of men in the family court system. I worry that this will just be viewed as some extremist stunt and after a lot of head-shaking and tut-tutting the issue will fade to the backburner again. I don't want to think that a man died for a cause and still didn't receive support in a country where men are viewed as optional except where his pocketbook is concerned.

...this is...I'm making my "Not sure if serious..." face. I'm not sure what she's trying to say. I'll agree with another poster here, if I'm going to do some business I prefer to do it in the privacy of my own home. To be honest I used to feel whole-heartedly that men are always looking at women, always sizing them up, comparing, passing judgement and cataloging women in their brains into various categories (would fuck, would fuck and not tell, friends only, drunk flirting restriction, etc.) and I found it extremely degrading and because of my own insecurities about my looks I found it upsetting and offensive whenever a man I was with would even glance at another woman or smile politely.
