I noticed that they have a whole section on "Misandry" at NYMag. At first I thought, "Wow, they are actually tackling the topic of misandry? WTF?" Then I clicked through and found that it was exactly the opposite, they were just reveling in misandry. It would be like if the newspaper had a section titled "racism" which had humorous newsbites celebrating people being denied jobs or being sent to jail. The cluelessness of this moral position boggles the mind.

That chart is misleading because the weights have been adjusted. If you keep everything equally rated which is the default weighting at that website, women in America are still higher than men in any country, but not as high as women in some countries (Australia and Sweden).

The fact that it is used as a pejorative does not mean that it doesn't refer to a particular group of people, even if they don't self-identify as hipsters. If you live in a big city or a college town, hipsters are almost-but-not-quite as easy to distinguish from other groups as goths were. Yeah, I understood that. The headline implies that circumcision does not decrease the probability of contracting HIV, all else being equal, which is not an argument that the article seemed to make. That's what I was talking about.

Wow. Now that's a misleading headline. The main opinion espoused by the article is that circumcision is a waste of resources, not that it lowers your probability of contracting HIV. Now, I'm not saying I disagree with that statement, but it is at least disingenuous for a headline.
