Well my job description is not "help people work together". But to achieve my goals, I have to convince people from different departments to compromise and work together, otherwise whatever I do is ineffectual. Last time I checked I was an INTJ, but when I was younger I used to score as INTP. We're not typically known for our negotiating skills, so I can't say I'm a master at it, but I know enough not to burn bridges just 'cuz.

Well it's simple really. I have a strong sense of who I am and I don't need to shout it to others to embrace it. More practically, my job is to get people from different backgrounds and different outlooks to forego their differences and work together. Being abrasive is counterproductive, especially if it does nothing to further my goals. It's part of being an adult. What you view as weakness is really strength of character.

We sometimes have superficial discussions about the subject. We are both careful not to do any overt attacks on each other's belief systems. Tact and respect. It's not that hard. Little bit of border raids is part of a healthy relationship between neighbor nations; all-out war is not.

I mean tact is a thing. I'm an atheist. I have a catholic coworker. I don't tell him what I really think about religion - why would I? It would poison the well, and I need to coexist with this guy for years. Edginess for edginess's sake is a sign of immaturity.
