I don't even want to quote Poe's law at you because that's how certain I am that you aren't serious. More likely is that you're an extreme feminist trying to make this subreddit look as bad as you wish it was.

Sometimes I hear someone saying "you know, I actually like giving money to charity, it makes me feel good knowing I've done the right thing." Little did they know they were suffering from toxic masculinity.

I personally would concede that mass killings are a more typical result of the mentally unwell male brain than female brain (many MRAs probably wouldn't I guess) but there is a distinct lack of evidence that there is an "epidemic" of mass killings purely driven by a culture and/or individual hatred of the opposite gender. What causes these individuals to commit these atrocities is a lot more complex than that, and the message given by the quotes in the OP's link not only is in danger of insultin…

She sounds like a very reasonable feminist, and that's the sort of feminism I can subscribe to. What I don't subscribe to is the bullshit like "There is no such thing as misandry", "We'll only look at your issues once all the issues facing women have been dealt with", etc. Whatever you want to claim is the cause for the current issues, as long as you accept that they're real, we can talk.

Not really, since any of those -philias specifies a specific preference for that stage of development over more "normal" sexual desires. Just because someone likes or doesn't mind a certain thing, doesn't make it a -philia. However, "paedophile" in the media has become synonymous with "statutory rapist / illegal pornography viewer / sexual deviant (daily mail only)" so in this context I can't be bothered to complain.

This is the only reason I like this image. It highlights by parody how outrageous the actual adverts you do see, reminding men that rape is a crime, as if that is going to stop the actual rapists.

I don't feel the need to fully justify their viewpoint, just point out that it's not sexism. refusing to mandate inclusion of people who might be marginalized (e.g. LGBT). What do lesbians have to do with a men's center? Most schools have their own LGBT room/center. Not that gay men should be denied access, but I doubt there was any risk of that anyway. Fine, GBT. …

Only very slightly relevant but happened last night and I wanted to tell someone: So I was walking through Manchester last night at 3am. Nowhere too dangerous but you never know with Manchester. I actually had a decent amount of money on me, so had opted to put it in my sock, you know, just in case. To me that just shows a lack of understanding of the work that goes into making sure psych experiments are done fairly, and the amount of disclaimers they put at the bottom about all the things that the study doesn't necessarily say. For example, the most notable one is usually that nearly all test subjects were working or middle class non-minority westerners.

Give me a definition of sexism, and then I'll tell you and give examples. For example if your definition is, as in the original definition we were talking about, prejudice + power, then as I said, all you need is power, which women can easily have. A policewoman who arrests a man for a crime but looks the other way when she sees a woman perform the same crime, is guilty of sexism. And as I said earlier, it doesn't even have to be power of authority. You can be sexist as an employer, with who you…

I really have no idea what you're getting at. Reality as we know it could not exist in such a universe. Unless you can explain further, it seems completely irrelevant to the question of whether women can be sexist.

Well, since it appears you genuinely agree with this, I'd like to play devil's advocate. Firstly, on the definition of sexism. Even if it were, in the current status quo, impossible for a woman to be sexist towards a man, this would not make it objectively impossible for a woman to ever be sexist towards a man, since the status quo might change. So the definition should still include the possibility. Otherwise what you're saying is analogous to this: "I have my eyes closed at the moment, and I c…

On further research I agree, women are quicker to become unsatisfied in marriages does seem to be a true observable trend. However we cannot take the leap from here and make the conclusion that "Women/feminism are more to blame for marriages falling apart" which lots of people seem to be happy to do in this thread.

Which might also explain why DV rates in lesbian relationships are high. Do you have a citation for that? Females do have a sense of privilege, simply because they are born female, its in their nature. Please, we could do without this. There is no need for either the male or female "side" (and I had calling them sides) to both argue that the other "side" has more privilege and their own side has it so much more worse off. It's pointless. Let's just address every inequality as we identify it rath…

So women are quick to divorce. Or maybe quick to marry? It could be that the men are less buying into the idea of life long partnership with one person. We can't really know from just this one study.

My girlfriend is a psychology major and she explained to me the following: Apparently when it comes to relationship arguments, what has been found is that men in general tend to remember the key points, or larger picture, if you will, and want to keep the argument about that. Women tend to "focus in" on some smaller points compared to the larger picture, they might remember specific sentences someone said that they really didn't like, or something like that. Is there a public record of the case? I'm genuinely interested about how the ruling came about. I can't imagine it holding up in court without a good reason! Maybe this news article is skewed. Not saying that it is, but it could be. It's supposed to just be an archaic legal definition that doesn't mean much because the punishment should be the same for the woman even though it's just called gross sexual violence or whatever. In reality we see women get lesser sentences because in people's heads it's still a lesser crime.

This shouldn't affect your stance on how promiscuous men and women should be. If you're not setting the bar at the same level, as a Libertarian and believing that the freedom of the individual is the most important thing, I would call you a sexist. I also personally don't think there should be a bar, but there you go, difference in moral opinion I guess. Agreed, but there's a difference between making life easy for a criminal, which you shouldn't do because it will make you a target, and making yourself a target just by your behaviour / lifestyle choices. You have a responsibility to not make it easy to be pickpocketed by having your wallet bulging out of your back pocket, but you should be free to go shopping in town, even if this technically makes it more likely you'll get pickpocketed than not going shopping in town. I'm not sure I agree. Feminism, the anti-racism movement, and the anti-homophobia movement all gained momentum because of the male/white/heterosexual crowd rallying behind them. And I know that if I were gay, I could tell myself it wasn't wrong or immoral all I wanted, but hearing it from a straight person would mean a lot to me. People who aren't personally invested in a cause, feeling the need to fight for it, are a very powerful force.

I agree that the type of polyandry / polygamy where one person has many exclusive partners would not work on a worldwide scale (tragedy of the commons). However this is not the case for polyamorous arrangements in general, that can have one or more women and one or more men. There is no overlying rule about who has to be exclusive and who doesn't, that is decided within the arrangement. There is nothing inherently wrong with, or prone to disaster, with regards to a lack of monogamy. The issue yo…

So the reason we have bad parenthood is that bad parenthood is encouraged, and has been for nearly a century now. Either you've got good parents who aren't allowed to be good parents, or you've got bad parents who are encouraged to be bad and who likely grew up with bad parents themselves for the very same reasons. I agree with this, I just don't agree that the cause is single parenthood. On the other hand, slut shaming is not an infringement on anyone's freedom. It doesn't force anyone to do an…

It's a supply and demand issue. There are guys willing to buy girls drinks in the hope that it will get them on the girls' good side. Sometimes offering to buy someone a drink is a great way to get talking to her - and it is partly tradition and partly that men tend to be the go-getters in bars and clubs, that mean that it is usually the man buying a girl a drink. I'm all for people fantasizing about whatever they want, but child pornography is made because of supply and demand. It's the demand for child porn from people like Mr. Vilca that (usually) causes child porn to be made, and making child porn is child abuse. Now I agree that the punishment might not fit the crime, but it is definitely right to punish people for being part of the demand that creates the supply which requires child abuse.

Apologies never include the word, “but.” The only cases of the word "but" were not used in the context of her apology, except with the possible case of "but some people aren't ready for gender mixed bathrooms" (which is a fact). No one’s saying everyone should conform to a gender stereotype Oh, well, that's good I guess... Dare I suggest it was largely because it recalled a time when we still acknowledged a gender divide? When women were women, and men were men. ಠ_ಠ

I think 99% of the people in MensRights are aware that there is a double standard in the law. I would argue that rather than have the same awful punishment for the girl, the punishment should be more lenient for the guy. I'm sure some would disagree but that's my point of view on this particular case.

You deserve to be in jail for rape. Before you say any young person deserves to be sent to jail, become a prisons inspector. Or in my case, the boyfriend of one. In fact, that's probably the best way to remedy young offenders. make them do work experience as a prison inspector. That's the best way to get it into their heads this is not a place you ever want to be. When you send someone to jail you ruin their life, partially because of the criminal record but partially because of the traumatizing…

To be fair that's basically what the Bible says to women.

I would argue that your sexuality is less your choice than your outlook on monogamy.

That would then be their problem. Imagine a society where every woman and some men wanted to be polyamorous. Any man that refused to enter into a polyamorous relationship would be damning themselves with their own choices, as opposed to not having any women at all to date. Therefore while it is a problem, that's just a lifestyle choice problem and not an inherent problem with society-wide polyamorousness.

That's the problem with polygamy being one-sided, which everyone in this thread seems to have jumped to as a conclusion. If women are allowed to have multiple husbands, and polyamory of all forms is allowed, such as two women and two men, then there would be no issue with people being left out. But yes, if only one gender is allowed multiple partners then there will be society wide issues.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
