Worked in Aged care, but I imagine it's similar - have you ever used Vicks vaporub, or another strong menthol substance? Rub liberally under your nose. My nana on my mums side had 16 + 2 miscarriages. But that was down to an alcoholic, likely rapey, abusive husband. Temporary full custody. From the judges remarks, I'm not sure the dad is a shining beacon either, but he did keep his cool. Looks like a situation for parental support and counselling, with both parties benefiting from some polishing if their parental skills. Good leadership is when you don't make your people do anything you wouldn't do, and occasionally pitching in yourself, but recognising that you should be identifying the skills of your people and delegating tasks to best suit them.
