Decent concept, but in the end doesn't really help. My buddy got equal custody. They trade weeks. He still pays child support. She is working, but because he makes more, he still has to pay child support. The sad part is that he also pays for both for all of his daughters activities, like dance and all that. None of that counts as child support. Equal custody is important so that men can spend time with their kids, but won't change the financial burdens.

This is an argument I've had with some people that have heard me use the word cunt. Yes it is vulgar, but why is it that a taboo word while dick and prick are used frequently. I guess I need to remember that vaginas are holy ground, while my genitals are silly things that should be mutilated to look pretty.

This is a hilarious thing for people to be upset about. If you don't like something, don't be involved. It is really simple. I am a total comic dork and a huge DC fanboy. Haven't kept up with WW, but I've enjoyed a lot of the new 52 story arcs. It would be nicer if these whiners actually read a wide variety to formulate an informed position on this before spouting off immediately with "misogyny!" And "rape culture!"

This was a good read. I think the reason we are seeing a big push in the movement from millennials has a lot to do with what they have grown up with. We were indoctrinated with "woman power" and with the push to make things more equal for women. At the same time men are being given a lot of don't do this/don't be that. Where I saw girls and women being given options and direction, men and boys are just given no such help. Nothing to help young men figure out what it means to be a male. It should…

That's almost exactly what I thought/hoped would happen when I told my friend. She then said that it was really sad it happened, but I'm a small statistic so it didn't matter. When I claimed that is marginalizing a whole group of people, she said that I was misusing the word. People are fun. I can tell you honestly that you are better off without people like that in your life. They are toxic to everyone around them.

Unfortunately people are terrible to each other. There is a growing need to become victims, and to be the bigger worse victim. It's almost a race to the bottom. Instead of looking at these things as terrible collectively and trying to fix that, there is a push to rank these tragedies. I hate it. Not saying that's what you did, it was quite the opposite. You were just trying to show that it can happen to all people, which is amazing. It just stinks that there are people who would turn something l…

Don't let her inability to understand the situation get you down. I had the exact same kind if reaction from a female "friend" of mine when I came out as having been sexually assaulted by a woman. Just rise above it. Never let blatant ignorance get you down.

I'm trying to be open minded. I would tend to agree with you though. My encounters with self proclaimed feminists have always gone one way. I would just like to believe that is a vocal minority I'm dealing with, and not the majority of people.

This wonderfully shows the constricting views that FEMEN and (some) feminists hold to while preaching that they are liberating us all. Liberating people does not mean "teaching" them that how what you think to be true to be the only truth. Not everything is so black and white.

What is funny about that is they say it is arrogant of us to want to be included in certain conversations. Apparently it isn't arrogant of them to be the center of every conversation.

Sort of like how downplaying females sexually assaulting males has caused it to be on the rise? Combating sexual assault across the board should be the issue. Maybe the real problem is that the way it has been fought so far isn't working? Telling little boys that they are naturally rapists and sex offenders just might be a self fulfilling prophecy? Basically you are saying its okay for men to not have their assaults addressed for the greater good. Ridiculous reasoning personally. I find it funny…

Well, it's things like this that should give everyone hope. I believe that there are a ton of reasonable minded folks out there, we just need to get our reasonable opinions heard above the combative minority.

I agree with you that blame is a useless tactic. Very rarely does perpetuating hate across the board actually fix anything. It's just very easy to get caught up in when you are constantly attacked and belittled publicly by people calling themselves feminists. The negative connotations of that word are very strong.

I don't see men as the ones pushing ridiculous male body issues. That would be the drive to acquire a mate, and since studies show that women are harsher judges of male appearance, that one lies on women. I would think the larger issue with make identity is that we no longer have one. We spend so much time focusing on how men are inherently sex offenders and abusive that we aren't really telling young boys anything different. If all you are told as a child is that you are a sexual predator and t…

I don't see all feminists as man-haters, but mostly tunnel visioned with their cause. That isn't always a terrible thing, but it can be when the person won't allow themselves to understand both sides. Most of my dealings with hard line feminists haven't been blatant misandry, but more willful ignorance to male issues. I have been told more than once that yes men have some serious disadvantages and problems, but we can't worry about them and their issues. That it is arrogance on my part to champi…

The part that saddens me the most is what they say at the end of this paper. That there are people who believe that pointing out sexual assault is gender neutral, would cause more men to attack women because they would see it as normal. So I am to just deal with being sexually assaulted because women called it first? I've never understood the belief that we can only fight one gender's battles at a time, while telling the other to fuck off. I know I'm just discussing a specific line in this, but …

I really appreciate your kind words. It has been years since it happened, and I have peace with it all now. This recent conversation with my so called "friend", brought back some bad memories and feelings that weren't so fun to deal with again. Especially with the way she handled it. I have always been an advocate for human rights, like you were saying. Once you bring gender or race into it, the message gets muddy. It turns into an "us versus them" argument and that just never works. Again, than…

Not that instance. There she was saying I deserved the verbal assault I was getting, primarily because of my different opinion. This went on for a little while longer today, back and forth with aggressive language and personal attacks from her being met by trying to keep it a civil debate. Finally ended it when I was told that because I am a white male, I feel that I need to be involved in all policy making because of the patriarchy and the effect it has on society. That me inserting myself in a…

Yeah, I'm done with it. Not the cause, but this argument. She explained to me that by marginalizing me, she wasn't marginalizing me. It was pretty funny to read. I told her I don't think she knows what the word means.

Well it gets worse. Before I could continue the discussion, one of her friends stated that stats say its this way and she didn't care about some men being over sensitive and having their egos bruised. I retorted with a comment of well, I was raped by a woman and don't you find it funny that you are doing what feminism is apparently trying to stop, marginalizing a group of people? Was told that I attacked her by what I said previously, and she feels bad about my situation, but that I asked for th…

We have had discussions about my situation. I'm a pretty open person about things, and this isn't our first run in. Basically she told me that it's really unfortunate that it happened to me, but it's a very rare situation and things happen. She goes right back in to quoting blogs and refuted studies. When mentioning the big issue of make under reporting, I get the usual "women under report as well". Basically the bottom line, yes men have problems but they are the cause of patriarchy and women h…
