Yeah it's really frustrating having experienced coercive control from my kids mom and grandmother as the dad and this is a throng of womens groups making the argument seemingly against men. Men and Fathers need to be involved in this argument for the kids sake because it definitely isn't only the fathers guilty of this type of damaging behavior to kids and families.

Yup short king here I have no problem going angry chihuahua mode when people are disrespectful towards me. You kind of need to learn how to do it, it's something you learn over time. There were periods of time where I did not have a great handle on it. But people really do love to comment. It makes you feel insecure, but my advice to short guys everywhere is find something that earns you respect, for yourself, so you can hold onto that every time people are shitty. Being unshakeable because you …

I like this a lot. Men opening their group to be inclusive and seeking to be supportive of Women who also seek to go their own way. I've talked with many women who don't believe in or agree with a lot of feminism. Many people who are trying to resist systemic oppression in their own way.

I feel ya, but the example in that alcatraz video above was of a man who disemboweled a woman while raping her when he was 17. He previously raped a 8 year old girl who was his brothers girlfriends daughter. He was found to be of sound mind while he did it with high risk to offend. Society has to make these calls to protect itself. We cannot allow behaviors like this in general. Rehabilitation where there's certainly hope for this person to be a solid member of society. But, sometimes there isnt…

Hey man, really sorry to hear that. Thankyou for sharing. There are people out there who do care and will listen to you and will believe you and will help you. But, it wont be everyone you open up to about this, and you might face shitty reactions for the rest of your life. But you are strong and you can do this. I wish you well and I think you need to do what would help you heal from this, which is talk about it with a professional who will hear you and listen. You are strong. Stay strong.

I'm very hopeful about this medication (prozac/fluoxetine) because a lot of my family members have tried multiple medications and a lot of them ended up on this one, so I think I kind of have a leg up on the race hopefully! And yeah 2nd day on it, going to take a few weeks to see the effects, but the pharmacist said if its not having any impact after 2 months to talk to my Dr. I have a lot going for me, good support network, so I just have to go through the steps and hope for the best.

The fucked thing is man she has depression, anxiety, and abandonment issues. When I point that out to her that thats literally the result of being emotionally abused her whole life she minimizes and blames all these other factors. And before I drew the line in the sand that it needed to change and she needed to go, I swear at some point she told me that her mom is abusive and that shes thought about being a social worker before so she could help kids with what shes been through. But now? I'm an …

Nah well Yes, you are right, but I'm in a "situational crisis". I moved out of my pregnant gfs house because I told her her mom is emotionally abusive and I dont want her in our house any more, or our son having her around All of the time. Im fine with like a visit to Nan's on the weekend, but really not OK with her being there all of the time. She disagrees and says "I need to be right about this" etc. Denial in my opinion but, then she reached out to her dad and her ex bfs and they all agree w…

This is a really great post man, support your fellow brothers. I started an antidepressant yesterday, and my sister got me a pill holder for the week, my mom got me vitamin d and b12, so now I'm really focused on staying on top of every day getting these chemicals into me to help me out. I've been suicidal past few weeks. I work in mental health, so, dont freak out!! I am talking with friends and family and my gf every day about it. I knew once I started to plan it was time to get help. My life …

Right, she crossed the line. So you used daddy voice and made it clear its not a discussion. That's exactly how it should be handled imo. However, a tad injection of humor, even while your agitated, is a good way to demonstrate composure, confidence, etc. It may have even put her at ease. She was probably a little half-cut herself and assuming shes drunk so you must be as drunk as her, drunk-logic. Can't take it personally.

Wanted to be friends is just weak on every level for an opening from a bitch. Something like "Should I give you the benefit of the doubt that youre having a bad day?" Slimmed way down to "? Bad day?" See what they say, work with that. Dont be a therapist; put it forward to them in two words "I dont know you, either I give you an opportunity to apologize to me, or you can throw your second shot away by continuing to be a bitch". You follow it up by pointing out something really funny in the envir…

Yeah I suppose, gay men have their biases against women as well though I find. Like bitches get dick dropped on em like confetti, gay dudes have to work for it, I suppose even a lot harder (ew) then straight dudes to get laid. So they resent them generally. Which women love of course. But yeah gay dudes can also get along deeply with women and be that classic gay male friend the ultimate friendzone friend. I clarified earlier specifically her ex-friends, she's quite good at burning bridges in brilliant flames. But, I am also learning that her ex-friends become friends again pretty quickly, and the veterans are used to it basically. Her "besty" loves me to death and we're good friends, but I was wise enough to not ever ask if she would do so - she fucking offered one time and I just said thank you and I would keep it in mind if I thought I needed it. It's kind of a game of thrones type of situation…

Very true. I'm very wise in some ways, completely foolish in others, this being one of them. Does a wise man ask for help when he knows he needs it, or does he walk forward silently hoping for the best? I don't know if you like the Tarot, but in the Jungian sense it describes the journey of the fool and the enlightened king being the same journey, just different stages. I am young, and I am foolish, I dare to be stupid. Thank you for your guidance!

Wait, so what happens if she never presses charges against me, and I never press charges against her? Nothing? I don't have to pay custody? Basically, by what you're saying, I can't bring the fight to her unless I can pay a lawyer as Legal Aid can't help me bring the fight to someone, and until she presses charges against me, I can't qualify to get assistance from Legal Aid to defend myself? So, if no charges are laid either way, I'm scott free so to speak?

Dude your post has made a really fucking powerful impact on me, thank you for clearly calling me out on my own bullshit I'm too blind to see. point 1 - I look at saving "her" as saving the kid, not her. Don't these types of actions I take indicate strong paternal instinct behavior? point 2 - I took her out to a nice dinner when we were getting along at one point, she said "I know you said you'd go for full custody, but I just hope you know, you wouldn't have a fucking chance." No, not the entire pregnancy. She cut herself and tried to kill herself while she was pregnant, she didn't know at the time - I'm not trying to say that what she did has no chance of affecting the baby during it's earliest stages of development, it has a huge chance of it. All awesome points, thank you, I definitely take this and run with it. The witness thing is a really solid point. Why not? Specifically. Are you just stating that it's a loser case? Legal Aid is supposed to assign a lawyer to defend you if you are unable to hire a lawyer because of your financial issues and you have a legal situation where you are not clearly guilty, I meet these criteria.

So, I hear you fully on this. But if all text message record/trail shows I'm just a super helpful "nice" guy and she's actually a crazy bitch and I have lots of proof of it, how does not being nice work to my benefit in that scenario if I can also demonstrate that I have a perfect home environment where I can take care of the kid myself? I prefer communication with her using texts/messaging as there is a solid record which can be used later. Everyone has their lot in life, I've never seen that as a reason to give up on them. I draw the line at whether or not someone is a detriment to my life, the child exists because of me and its mother, it had no choice in the matter, its my responsibility, it doesn't owe anything to me, quite the opposite.

I view manhood as partly about responsibility. Pretty certain this is my child, even though its unborn I feel responsible for leading it through a tough world. Whether I want the child is irrelevant, the child is going to be born into the world and I'll be damned if I don't do everything I can to make sure that's an enriching experience for it, myself and the rest of the world. Does that answer your question?

I have an awesome supportive family that me and the kid by ourselves would he totally fine. I am worried about the false accusation of rape but I also have messages where I tell her specifically I will sleep on the couch you can sleep in my bed, she gets miffed and I explain sleeping in same bed as her at that point is out of the question - doesn't sound like a rapist to anyone sane I don't think.

I've started saving all text message conversations to google drive, going to the library to print them all off, went to legal aid this morning to potentially get representation. I will write stuff out that's a good idea. I'm going to ask her friends if they would give a statement about her as well, if my lawyer thinks that'll help at all. I agree with this. Emotion is part of what makes us human, but our ability to have emotions, or more specifically for experience difficult times, and reframe our emotional state to be able to persevere through difficult times and emotions is what makes us excellent humans. And who wants anything less than an excellent human as a lifelong companion as well as provider and ideal mate for healthy offspring?

I agree with this. Stop subscribing to their/your "demeaning" frame. Remember, they're all basically children maturing into being better children to take care of other children. Are you insulted by childish behavior from a child? Why be insulted by childish behavior from a childish woman, or a childish man? Having a rock solid mans life is a form of game. If your life is rock solid, what's there to worry about, by all measures things are good or better, so lean back, take it all in, with a big smile maybe a beer, and hey what do you know there's a gorgeous lady talking to you all excited and giddy.
