I sent my Eagle Scout medal to HQ with a protest letter. It was no doubt ignored and almost certainly unread, but the principle matters to me

Too true with this one. 10,000 sq ft "house" that cost $1.3M to build in '97, unfinished because they kept adding embellishments, and the money ran out. Dad and mom both had $350k/yr jobs handed to them by fabulously wealthy parents. Dad gambled everything away speculating on crop futures. 10 years on and she hadn't figured out that she couldn't have $250k in student loan debt, be a SAHW/M, live in a "modest" 7,000 sq ft house, and go on vacations every 3 months on my salary, let alone on the 5 …

Literally killed my last relationship. Told her if she wanted things to get more serious, we needed to know each others’ finances. We both knew mine were not Saudi Prince tier, but healthy. We both knew hers were a dumpster fire and that she’d have to change that.

Exactly, part of his captaincy role is protection.

This certainly makes a case that SJW agitprop is being deliberately sourced to major churches/franchisees. Doesn't help when you have Bethels and Hillsongs and Acts 29s out actively proselytizing out-and-out effeminacy

You may be right, but this is spot on Also lunch time is when those older guys at work will bombard a young guy with the "Don't marry ever" monologues. I don't know about office workers, but working in the trades this is exactly when guys start complaining about their 'old ladies.' The guys who don't participate in the gripefest are the ones filling their mouths with the evidence that they escaped a fate worse than death- being married to a nagging harpy.

I'm literally right in the middle of this. Saturday, she wanted me to help her sister move and go to some sort of party with some of her friends. I'm the "asshole" who doesn't value her or the relationship because, instead, I helped my old man swing a 1,200 Lb (544 Kilo) I-Beam into his garage for an engine hoist & gantry system. My arithmetic was this: Her sister has at least 3 orbiters I know about and who would show up at her beck and call (and did). My old man is over 60, doesn't have a swar…

True doing this multiple times is a problem, but at the same time, if he uses this as a line in the sand for both of them, it's a chance for him to grow further away from his BP past.

I'm giving it a shot to test myself, my frame, and my game.

Yeah.... I think you missed everything I said. I'm totally ready to just walk away. Buy myself dinner, exchange pleasantries, and bail. That flame isn't rekindlable into any sort of actual relationship. But that's not what I'm looking for.

Your point isn't necessarily indicative of my thinking, but I can see where you're coming from. My thinking has 2 prongs. First, I'm not the pump and dump kind of guy. RP is all about me being the best me. If I invite and escalate, I don't enjoy my own presence after. Second, if I go buy myself dinner (one meal out a week is already in the budget, so nothing special on account of her) and get a chance to test my frame where it used to be weak and I think I fixed it, I gain valuable insight into …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
