This couldn't have come at a much better time than now. I'm going through a similar phase and I did tell her that what she said was not right. I slowly but surely started going back in our relationship and she noticed and asked if I was taking steps backwards. I told her that I have confidence that you'll be able to take the relationship forward to where we were.

From an Indian immigrant's POV, marrying someone who isn't born in the US is always a downgrade. She still pursued him because she knew he could make bank.
