Anything but. Was pretty bad for a couple years. We only communicated through a communication book. Pick ups and drop off's with the kids was pleasantries only. He owed my mother 30k and she had to take him to court. We kept it all away from the kids, we the adult thing and eventually it was kind of fake it till you make it. It's been good for a long time now though.

Inheritance is not marital property. You can't ask for half her land, you can try, her lawyers will love it if you do in court.

So why does she not work? Why would you be with someone who doesn't plan a future with you and only a future without you. You don't need to be her white knight, you can let her go be a parent and support her own children. It's not and never was your job, you did it out of kindness but she has rejected and abused that kindness

Op is from Australia. So yes, it is. If he entered the marraige with x amount and certain possessions and she entered with nothing each year her worth goes up from the money of his contribution but not to 75% unless in that time she has become a senior citizen, now never able to work etc. Even then I doubt she would be since 5 years is not considered a long marraige. Also alimony is not a thing.

Your dad needs a new lawyer. If he had the property and business before marraige then that may be protected. Also you witnessed the abuse so more could be done on that front too. Most lawyers do a first free consultation, so he can go to a couple and needs to be specific with the information.

I'm 10+ years post divorce, I still take my kids to see their family on their dads side, go to Christmas dinner etc. I don't talk about my ex though to them or try and get info about him (my ex will call me and tell me himself everything about himself). I literally have an open invite to all their family events. He chose to make me family, we had kids, bo matter what they will always be my family. And to be clear, I don't impose on them, it's them all asking me to come to everything (ex sometime…

Did your wife ask for your mother to be the child's paediatrician? Or is it just a medeling MIL situation harassing a new mother? The paediatrician she went to see that wasn't MIL said it was fine. There are reasons (legal and relationship) as to why family members should never ever be your doctor.

Your kids can spend her weekends with her family. Your weekends are for you and your family. Also get a dog or borrow a friends dog, learn to make cinnamon rolls (they arent hard) or do other cooking with the kids. You can say no (and should say no to set boundaries), say you have other plans (perhaps with their grandparents or other family on your side) and that if they can give you advanced notice and you dont already have plans, you will be sure to keep that day free. Do not give in, you need…

Im in Australia. You can start making police reports about the abuse. They will keep a record just go to a police station. You can also ask for a restraining order against her and her family if you can get proof that you are being threatened in any way. They don't just hand protection orders out like they do in America. You have many resources available to you. What state are you in, do you own property together do you have kids? Anything that will become a hurdle of being free of her. You need …

Do what makes you feel happy. If you want the dogs, then keep the dogs. If you feel its too much, then dont keep the dogs. At the end of the day, you need to think about whats best for you and your fur family. Legally speaking, they will default be yours if she does not care for them anyway, so you wont even need to ask if she does not provide money or care for them.

Prenups protect everyone. They are a good idea. Its not weird. I think inheritance is safe from divorce though

No, you cant. I could literally go down and change my last name to yours and there isnt shit you can do about it. You dont own the name and its legally her name.

You are unhappy, perfectly reasonable reason to divorce. Leave her, get sober, get your lease on life back.

There is no custody order, you can take your child out for a couple hours. If she harasses you, you can get the restraining order

So now she left you, you finally can lose some weight and start core strength...after 10 years? I mean...Why didnt you start 10 years ago? Sorry but excuses is what ended your marraige. You aren't supposed to just give up on life after marriage, you clearly gave up from what you wrote and your responses. Obviously you didnt hold up your end of the vows. Maybe ask her side of the story and you will know why your marriage fell apart. She isnt your mother, she was supposed to be your wife

7 year olds could easily shoot an air rifle (I did and we dont like guns either) but there is the same amount of kick back as the air rifles at the fair where you knock shit down (virtually 0 kickback, more like a little tiny, and I really mean tiny jolt). Your ex is lying to you as the situation is worse and is trying to mislead you into not knowing how serious of a situation she put your child in.

I tried to get one when my ex bought a knife to my house and threatened to slit my throat, police came to the house, he left when they did....no restraining order granted.

Did you give her reason to fear for her safety? They dont just hand out restraining orders like candy (at least where im from). I feel like there is more to this story that you are omitting. Did you threaten her? Lay hands on her? Trap her? One thing is clear, its a toxic relationship either on both your parts or one, not sure who and that this relationship should be ended for good.

You arent in the wrong for asking? How did you ask? She should just answer and dont know why its a big deal to explain who the person is and why he was on the trip too, unless you have a habit of interrogating her then I could see why her reaction of being tired of it would make sense.

So you want your ex wifes families money in a divorce? Have you separated already?

Pretty sure if she uses marital money, she cant put something in family trust, well she can but he is entitled to half of what she put into it. He has a job, its looking after the kids. He should 100% fight this, he should go to the divorce lawyer and file, makes a difference on who files first.

Really? Thats not the case in most countries. Regardless of if you get it granted, you have on record a stalking complaint against her. Goodluck

Get a restraining order on her if she shows up.

You arent wrong to help, after all pets are family. Just cause you divorced her, doesnt mean you left the pet as your family member. Its up to you what you want to do.

She doesnt want to sit around for a fence sitter who doesnt support her from his family. She is at an age where she cant waste life in a dead end relationship, where your ex sat in one for 16 and was fine with it. She almost left because you dont want the same things. I see you are switching to wanting the same things as her, but you need to truely want them and she wants you to figure it out fast. Wanting to end a relationship because you arent compatable, rather than just cheat and leave are 2…

He needs to have his own account that she cannot access. Somehow you need to inform him of this. Also speak to the people at r/legaladvice because he isnt an adult so he isnt required to pay rent, what she is doing could be illegal.
