I don't know what that means. All I was implying is that the suggestion of some "higher standard," particularly in a gender-specific forum, just doesn't sound right.

That's consistent with my subjective observation. I lived in Ireland for most of a decade, and when I returned to my native U.S. a couple of years ago the heightened prominence of the word in the American lexicon was conspicuous. It wasn't something that I was prompted to notice -- it was impossible not to.
