I suppose there are probably some dystopian environments were suing somebody can ruin your life like that, but I'm not familiar with them. I've heard of people accused of crimes being shit on in this manner, but never civil plaintiffs. It could very well happen. Regardless, I believe that justice is about correcting society rather than about revenge or reparations. It's the victim's duty to press for justice, even if it sucks -- because nobody else can.

Justice is not limited to the immediate victim. Someone in my family got sexually assaulted. My family needs money and we're kinda greedy, and said family member seems to be okay. Perpetrator has a lot of money, so we sue, since money is better than justice. We get a bunch of cash and enjoy it. Perpetrator goes on to sexually assault several other people. Too bad, fuck you, got mine. Or, someone who wasn't a shitbag could have pushed for criminal charges and prevented the victimization of others…

It's really too bad the republicans (especially at the federal level) are such a bunch of ignorant fuckups, because I'd really like to vote for someone who doesn't shit on me one of these elections.

This guy might be alive if the justice system did its job. 65 prior convictions by age 31, including violent ones, and she's free to murder this guy because "what are you looking at?". Regardless of your leanings on justice (rehabilitation vs. punishment), this woman should have been rehabilitated or locked up at this point.

I will buy this person a drink any day. Stands up to annoying wealthy tourists and defends his employees? Total bro.

It's not just competition. I don't have a good handle on exactly how things change, but boys will tend to "look out" for the girl(s) at their own expense and censor themselves quite a bit in both actions and language. We used to take turns pissing on the fire to avoid hauling water to put it out before breaking camp. It was silly and juvenile, but also functional and made us laugh. No way that happens in a mixed-gender group. There's no real way to get the brotherhood, unity, and physical/mental…

Regardless of any dumb "privilege by demographic" metric, the girl has more privilege here. Girl abuses boy, boy does nothing: Boy loses Girl abuses boy, boy attacks girl, "you don't hit a girl": Boy loses Girl does not abuse boy, boy does nothing: Nothing happens Girl does not abuse boy, boy attacks girl, "you're a bully and/or violent criminal": Boy loses 2 choices, one for each person involved. In 3/4 cases, the male gets shit on. Clearly, in this particular circumstance, he is the opposite o…

Most boys have started puberty by 15. Most have not "been through" puberty (i.e. to completion) until much later. She could be either an ephebophile or a pedophile. It is unlikely that she is neither.

This is the second time I have seen this article today. I suspect what has happened in these cases is a bit unfortunate on both sides. Wife clearly expects things to be done her way in the home. This could be her personal desire, her upbringing, innate tendencies, whatever. At home, she has become the boss. Except she doesn't want the burden that comes with being the boss. With her as the boss, he is naturally going to slide towards being the employee. Employees don't usually take initiative whe…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
