If you're going to fight a battle over it, work on stopping people from saying "males" instead of trying to talk people into accepting "females". "Female readers" is proper, in the context of a newspaper talking about its statistics, for example. Using it anywhere that "woman" or "women" is meant to be, though (as a noun), that's when the neckbeard party starts. Cervical cancer is the most likely major problem, so I understand the priority, but that doesn't mean men should be left to suffer without an option permanently.
