I do get the nuance of circumstances ie upbringing and society expectations etc but I do agree with the notion that it’s not necessarily another individual’s responsibility or obligation to teach another how to handle their emotions or deal with potentially unsafe situations (as in outside of parental relationships, though prob a lot of nuance w the latter thing) Like yea it’s nice when a friend or partner has the resources and mental energy and is willing to help but it’s not fair to put that r…

If you are fully dressed your ankles or wrists could be considered sexual. That was actually a thing. In some cases, it sadly still is today

Exactly and also, while I can’t speak for what’s majority overall, it’s not like men always do all the work in piv intercourse? And I’ve seen a lot of straight women online say their male partners would make no effort to make them orgasm

Bro forgot sapphic women exist 😭

Exactly, and not to mention, abusers ar often good at hiding their true colors and being subtle enough with the abuse that red flags can be easier to miss early on

Exactly though tbf they already kinda view male victims that way (at least when the abuser was female)

Same here 😅 I can’t speak for the women who said that to OP, but from how his father and grandfather said it from a misogynistic place, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case for the women who said that as well

Wish I could award this comment

I was thinking this too. It probably doesn’t happen all that often but you never know when it might. I actually saw a post once where the OP’s husband was doubting the kid was his and got a paternity test w out telling his wife and accused her of cheating when it came back negative but they investigated it further and it turned out there had been a baby mix up at the hospital

Thank you for the correction! Edit: I’m looking more into it and I’m mostly getting stuff on the US in particular but it seems like it varies by state? Like it seems in NY, Texas and Michigan, relinquishing parental rights an exempt you from child support but it in Florida or Georgia etc. But personally, I’ve heard of cases of deadbeat parents just not paying child support at all even w out relinquishing their parental rights and nothing was done about it anyways even when it got reported 😬

Don’t they already have that as an option though? Aren’t you exempt from child support payments if you give up your parental rights? I thought donors (whether for egg or sperm) have to give up their parental rights or forgo them to the adoptive parents but in the case of an accidental pregnancy where one party wants the kid and the other doesn’t want to be involved, can’t the latter just give up their parental rights? Or are they still obligated to pay child support even id they give up those ri…

It also happens in mosques with imams (Islamic preachers) who tend to be men but it gets swept under the rug even more than in the church it seems bc so many people are in denial about it but I know so many people (mainly women/girls but also some guys) who were molested as kids or assaulted by imams/molvis or their Quran teachers (not saying every Muslim is like this obv but enough to be a problem, esp since the issue is not being addressed or even acknowledged)

Yea, I was gonna say, while I do feel for people who struggle w dating (esp since I do myself), as someone who is also looking for a job rn, this is pretty much how the process feels for me lmao

The requirements for “Taking care of all of them” is also not very strict afaik. I’m pretty sure you basically just need to provide them with food and shelter but it doesn’t have to be nice or of good quality. And I’m not sure that’s even that heavily enforced considering there are some men who just straight up abandon one family for another.

“ Why women complain about misogynistic men?! Just don't deal with them” I mean some girls and women don’t have that option when it’s their fathers, brothers, cousins, uncles, coworkers etc and even with strangers or friends or potential SO’s, some of those men also don’t leave women alone even after politely being told to bugger off or they’re not interested. Or if someone does a 180 after getting married or esp after having a kid, even if you get divorced, you still have to deal w them while c…

Maybe that happens but I’m just saying I personally have never encountered it nor have I ever heard anyone talking about encountering it. And based on what I know about middle eastern men or the culture in general, I wouldn’t say they’re the role models on how to treat women Edit: also any “feminist” that complains about having to split bills or expecting the man to pay for everything is probably not actually a feminist, js. Maybe it happens as well even though I’ve never seen it but I have seen…

Tbh I agree with your bullets. I feel like they’re just social construct and ig one could argue whether it’s harmful or helpful to have these labels but I feel it’s only harmful if you give in to gender roles and tell girls/women they can’t be into skateboarding or cars or be intellectual bc “that’s for men” or confident and telling boys/men they can’t be into make up or wear dresses or nail polish or be shy etc “because that’s for women”. But I guess even if it’s deemed okay for girls to be mas…
