Gpt: The critique leans heavily on Vaknin’s views on narcissism, yet his analysis is grounded primarily in pathological empathy (specifically the narcissistic type) rather than healthy, balanced empathy. Vaknin's work is inherently focused on maladaptive forms of empathy in narcissistic or antisocial individuals. Funny is about exaggerations, and contrast. Fun dumb dad creats problems and wife has to take social responsibility, dad does something to make up for his mistakes and the unviltering magic family love keeps everyone together. Are there other male tropes in comedy through out the years? Other dad tropes? Seems to me that the sitcom family tropes are well defined and almost obligatory? What sitcoms play with the roles in an interesting way?
