Yes and no. Youre forgetting the only real change that allowed all of this to develop: the pill Men 50 years ago, werent "Billy beta" behaviouraly, but they werent PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE ENOUGH. Thats the thing people forget. Women have become pickier in the looks department, since they dont depend on men anymore (apart from Daddy government), which allows them to focus solely on genes. Before the pill, fucking Chad and getting pregnant was a ticket into poverty and misery.
