"Hooking up" does not necessarily mean banging... the whole point of the term "hooking up" is because you want to introduce a certain amount of ambiguity into what happened. If you want to tell people that you had sex with someone, that's what the words "sex" or "fuck" are for. If you don't believe me, go take a look at Urban Dictionary I agree that the older you are, the more likely it is that the phrase does in fact mean sex... but it is supposed to be ambiguous

I know places with like 140k people aren't exactly "small" by normal definitions (I've lived in places that were smaller), but places like that tend to be too small to have any real success in online dating. My hometown, if I go there and fire up Tinder and set the radius to 50 miles, I'm done swiping in just a few minutes. Hardly anyone uses it there.

I don't think you understand just how bad online can be in smaller areas. OP lives in an area with just 140k people, you can run out of Tinder profiles to swipe in about 5 minutes in a place like that (most of which are unreasonably fat or ugly) Online is only worth it if you're really good looking or live in an area with ~500k+ people

Bizarre that nobody has mentioned that you posted your story in TRP yesterday. I would have thought there were more cross-subscribers between this sub and that one.

The thing is, there are girls out there that get hit on frequently enough that they become very familiar with and internalize all the moves that guys run on them. Occasionally some of these girls get bold enough to make a move on a guy that piques their interest. Guess what their flirting looks like? It looks like game. They don't need to learn game, they've been taught it ever since they hit puberty.

That's the thing though, lunch is inherently casual. There are all sorts of restaurants where you're underdressed if you show up for dinner in jeans, but it's NBD if you go there with jeans at lunch. The use of the word "casual" is slightly concerning, as it's entirely redundant and thus might be trying to communicate that she's not interested. However, this type of analysis is a little too over-the-top. We need more context to get a better idea of what's going on. We don't know how clearly any …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
