Not your problem anymore. Focus on you and your kids. She’s an adult and can take care of herself.

Because your kids feelings come before yours. It can be traumatic and effect how they see relationships for the rest of their lives. I hate me ex. And ending the relationship was mutual so my perspective is different. However how you frame it for your kids can be similar. My kids (who are young) we’re exciting about our separation. They have 2 houses! Two Christmas’s! Two toy boxes! 2 families that love them! Pets at both houses! 6 months after the fact they would still both say that they are lu…

Wouldn’t two party consent just be for what’s admissible into court? I would think I’m allowed to hit record on my phone whenever I want and do whatever I want with those recordings.

Why do you care? Focus on you. Hell, the faster she moves on the better. Fuck her. Get on with your own life. If you can’t do that, seek counseling. Personally my ex moving in was the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

No, don’t resign yourself to this life. Get a lawyer. Make a plan. Get out.

I think the connection is the problem, not the boredom. If it’s just boredom then it’s on you to fix it. That’s not her fault or her problem. Get a hobby and some friends, not divorce. But if the love/connection isn’t there you either try to fix it or figure out how to move on.

You gotta do it. You have a lot of years left. They can be the best of your life or miserable. You don’t owe her anything. If you don’t have the courage to confront her, don’t. But make another plan. Pack a suitcase and leave while she’s at the store (be aware you might give up some tights to the house, probably call a lawyer first). Call a lawyer and ask for advice. Whatever you gotta do. I cannot tell you how good of a feeling it is to be free of that kind of daily burden. You deserve it. You’…

“To be honest I miss her”…… this dude is done. About to make the same mistake he made the first time. Remembering all the good times and forgetting about the literal hell he had to survive. I feel so sorry for him and the mistake he’s about to make that’s going to fuck his life up for a second time.

You’ll need a lawyer. A mediator is just there to get you two to agree to anything. They don’t care what’s in your best interest or the best interest of the child. Your ex and MIL aren’t going to agree to 50/50, you already know that. You need to start documenting how she’s keeping you from your child. Start gathering proof. Start being the perfect person. Keep trying to be involved. Document them stopping you. Contact a lawyer ASAP. There might not be a lot of assets to divide but the most impo…

The age of your son matters. Mine are 4 and 5 and we recently divorced. We framed everything as a positive. “You now have 2 homes where everyone loves you!”. “2 sets of stuffed animals…you’re so lucky!” Etc etc. both my kids were excited and looking forward to it. Also, you are his most important role model. Do you want him seeing you trudge forward in an unloving relationship? Is that what you would want for him? Of course not. A better life is in front of you. Go live it. Live it with your son…

I have two boys and although they are much younger than yours, I’d like to give you some advice. This will be more difficult because yours are older, and you will no doubt have to have some harder conversations but how you frame it is going to be so important! If you sit them down and have a somber, depressing conversation where you start crying, then they start crying, you are setting the tone for the coming months (possibly years). Frame it as a positive! Tell your boys they are now going to h…

What you read and what his advice are two very different things. Bottom line is the faster you wake up to the reality, the better off you’ll be. You need to start taking care of yourself asap. You need a lawyer and a therapist, today. Then dive into healthy activities while you bounce back.

What was your plan for when the rental ended prior to her wanting you out?

She’s moving about 20min from me. I live near the coast and she’s moving to an island. There is limited area around it. Property values go up the closer you get to that island. I would have to move the other direction to afford anything.

She’s not on the title but the lawyer I spoke two seemed certain it would be considered a marital asset.

What exactly is the 34k that you subtract from the equity before splitting the rest? I was told closing costs would be in the 5k-10K range. She’s stated that she’s not seeking alimony and child support would be minimal (cost of healthcare and a little more for clothing). I guess that should feel like a big win but I’m facing downsizing to a 2 bedroom shithole doesn’t feel like a win. Edit: THANK YOU for your thoughtful response.

Don’t wait a year. It probably won’t make a difference. Figure it out. Divorce her. Sell everything. Start over. ASAP. You’d be happier living out of your car for a month than living with her. Get away from her. Get your mind right. Start a new, better life.

There has been nothing official but she has split her time between our joint home and where she is moving to for about 6 months. Basically 75% of the time I’m home she’s gone. I guess in the big picture I’d still be coming out on top. But I’d have to refinance for much higher than I originally bought the house due to inflation. House payments go way up as I go to a single income household. I drown while she takes $100k much of which was paid for prior to her. The house was bought as an investmen…

Thanks! When I say I paid more into the home I was referring to the years before she moved in. Since we’ve lived together all our finances have been shared.

That’s my point.

Your situation is not mine but: I bought my house and paid on it for years before my stbx moved in. She’s about to move out and wants half and legally will probably get it. At the very least you can use that as leverage in negotiations. If I were you I’d offer to take a little less then half the equity and if there was any push back in custody or division assets I would use this as leverage.

Instead of letting it become an issue reach out to them (ex and new bf) and let them know you would like to meet the him beforehand.

According it Jordan Peterson, men and women are pretty similar mentally with men being only very slightly more aggressive on average. However the top 1% of the most aggressive people are all male.

Don’t move out. Stop blaming yourself. Get a lawyer. Get therapy. You’ve been mentally abused by this women and you need someone to help get your self esteem back. The kids aren’t better off without you, you are better off without her. Start documenting her mental abuse against you. Record your conversations with her. Save your texts. Don’t give her any advice about getting a lawyer or anything else. She is the enemy from this point on.

The young man is failing (at least in large part) because he has never had a solid male role model or guidance. His father abandoning him is only making it worse.

There is a difference between a kick in the pants and abandoning him. He’s abandoning him.

Well, to answer your first question, I don’t really care what others say on this topic. It seems like kind of a pointless debate honestly. But if you want to go down that road I would be more like to agree with them than disagree (hear me out before you judge). I believe in accepting responsibility, both personally and as a collective. I would say to you “men’s problems” have either been started by men or could’ve have been stopped by men at some point. It’s up to you to change things in your in…

Should be treated the same as raping an 8yo?

To clarify, you’re saying sex with a 15yo and a 8yo are basically the same thing and should be treated as such?

The fact that nagging text messages is considered a crises that you need a hotline for is absurd. The fact that men don’t have the backbone to stand up for themselves is embarrassing. Take some personal responsibility. Have a backbone.

At what point (if any) does any individual have a responsibility to stand up for themselves? Maybe we should be teaching and encouraging fellow men to be able to stand up for themselves instead of being victims. Let’s teach men how to be strong. Let’s teach men how to not let it get to the point that you consider your gf’s texts as abuse. It’s a text message. If you don’t like how you are being treated, leave the relationship. It’s ok to stand up for yourself. Not only is it ok...it’s your respo…

She’s always questioning me is a form of abuse? Come on... Being in a relationship with an over bearing person is a sign you need to get out of the relationship. Maybe there is some extreme examples of this that could be abusive but honesty can’t think of any right now. You have a responsibility to stand up for yourself. Every time you get treated in a way you don’t like it’s not abusive. Take some personal responsibility. If someone is treating you in a way you don’t like ask them to stop, if t…

I’m a circumsized male. Decision made by my parents when I was baby. As someone who is normally very empathetic, I honestly do not understand why this is traumatic for you in the slightest much less something you would contemplate suicide over. If you are so easily driven to suicidal thoughts you should seriously consider counseling.

Wtf would you commit suicide cause you were circumcised?!? Talk about an over reaction.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
