Wondering why I block out painful stuff in life, when people aren't nice to me. I think I dissociate and it takes me hours, days, MONTHS, to realize someone was being awful to me. I am in my 40's and just realized this tendency. Any thoughts on why people do this? It has really hurt me recently and am getting wise to this now.

I wish I had known about this before. So much regret and shame from the past.

I just had the weirdest revelation about my Pickmeisha tendencies. I realized I act like a PickMe when I don't like the person (guy or girl). WTF is that?! If I actually like the person and feel good around them, I don't do it. But if I have an "off" sense about them, I try to impress them or jump out of my skin in some way to get them to like me, EVEN THOUGH I DON'T LIKE THEM. Where do you think this comes from? (btw, I'm actively working on this).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
