I thought they broke up 10 years ago too but from the post it seems they broke up a couple months ago and the relationship was 10 years long. You're so right about the cycle of abuse and manipulation! Obviously trying to bring her down just as she's healing.

I haven't read the gift of fear but Lundy Bancroft also talks about this in the book "Why Does He Do That". Is it possible you got them mixed up?

Saying outright that you are being harassed can put you at risk of retaliation by the abuser/harasser. I don't see the problem with a sign, you can still outright say someone is making you uncomfortable if you want. This just adds an extra option for the women who want to make a more discreet escape. I do think your idea of being clearly and outwardly against harassment sends a great message and makes it a safer space to be in general. Those two would actually go great hand in hand (clear messag…

Haha I feel you, I do have facebook and insta but never ever post on them, neither does my bf. I like scrolling them maybe once a week to see what my friends & family are up to, but really can't be bothered to spend time advertising my own life online. It's weird to me how uncommen it is not to be on social media.

Idk where this picture was taken, but it might be a non-native mistake? I'm european and I interpreted it as "follow the example of women"/"be like women", as you kind of could say it like that in my language. Does this not actually work in english?

I think I'd treat it the same as someone asking how often you poop in a day... really inappropriate and personal. Imagine how you would react if someone asked you how often you poop a day and then apply that to the sexual partners question as well. Idk how casually or innocantly they ask it, my reaction will still be "um... what?". Pretend it's shocking to you someone would even ask you that, since it should be. You don't have to get angry or upset if that's not your style, just laughing as if i…

I used to think I preferred smaller penis sizes, because sex would always be incredibly painful and I'd bleed or at least hurt for days. Turns out, it was just REALLY bad sex/rape. I think we are underestimating how big of a factor this is for women who say they like smaller penises. When you're used to sex being bad/not being aroused, smaller dick is preferred.

It sounds like she was in a public place, since she mentioned not making a scene/drawing attention, so I assume she knew and took precautions.

Don't have the post, but a guy was luring slugs from the garden and blending them into his gf's smoothies and food. She was getting seriously ill from it, like stomach ulcers, brain fog, or stuff like that (and eating slugs can be super dangerous and even lethal). After a while she found out bc she found a jar where he kept the slugs or something. Not too sure on the details anymore. I think she left him and the symptoms stopped.

Yup. My father once met a UNICEF volunteer on a business trip. They were talking and at some point the man just randomly recommends a brothel for having children. He split asap after that. Couldn't believe a UNICEF volunteer would do that, but it makes sense. Pedo's flock to positions where they have power over vulnerable children.

My (rapist, abusive) ex was "falsely accused" of rape, or so I thought. One time he told me about this forum he frequents, a support group for men who were falsely accused. I was peak pickme and rarely put my foot down but even I could recognize that this was clearly a forum full of rapists who felt sorry for themselves, and wanted internet validation to fuel their lies and manipulation. I was upset that he refused to see through their façade and was supporting actual rapists. Took me way too lo…

It's definitely a great start, and gives you a good opportunity to walk/run away if you are feeling in danger. If you want to make 100% sure you are safe and he won't come after you, you can definitely kick way harder than she did. A kick in the face while he's still down is less effective but also possible if it makes you feel better. Another technique I've heard of is pressing your fingers really hard into the eye sockets, or hitting really hard in the throat. In this case she was relatively s…

What you're saying is true. Casual sex, if not purely for validation, is also a type of self harm for women. It makes sense that it comes from trauma and societal grooming, and it's not a bad thing to point this out. I really feel for these women, as I have a good friend who went through the same thing and now really regrets it. If women learn early to recognize and fix these patterns in themselves, then we can stop a lot of hurt and further traumatization.

It's belittling and misogynistic to imply her actions are because she's too stupid/vapid to know better. You can criticize her actions without resorting to petty cruelness. I agree on the second had embarassment. I think a lot of us have been her on some level in the past (I remember reading about feminism on tumblr at 14 years old and agreeing with most of the coddling libfem shit but believing that saying bad things about men will only make things worse and if we just support each other it'll …

Ew, it's so predatory when they do that. Happened to me all the time when I was 15-20; and people frequently told me I looked younger (13-15). These men are straight up pedo's and will fight to preserve their right to creep on "barely legal" (I sWeAr I ThOuGhT sHe WaS 18!!1!) girls.

I don't think the point is that men have to celebrate valentines day per se, moreso that if it's important to the woman then it has to important to them as well. Then to add insult to the injury they don't do anything special the rest of the year either and drag their feet when asked to do something nice one day of the year. If valentines day isnt a big deal to you then that's totally fine as long as your partner comes through for you in other ways. But when they use "valentine's day is a corpor…

I heard about Seeds lately, which is created by a woman and puts a lot of money towards charity. It seemed really great but I don't have spare money to invest at the moment. Problem is, I can't find them on google :( Edit: found it! Not sure if it's what you're looking for, they deal in cryptocurrency (or it is a cryptocurrency i don't really know) but theyre really focussed on helping women. I personally really liked the gesture and understand why others might be upset over your "negative" comment when they're in a feelgood mood. However, good on you for having high standards and shame on this community for downvoting you for it. You're totally allowed to not be impressed by a man's actions and of all communities this should be the one to support you.

They usually hang this in the ladies restroom. Most men don't go in there still... But yet another reason to worry about the decline in ladies restrooms in favor of ~all gender~ ones.

Just tell him you're not in the mood anymore. I know this is meant as a joke but my heart really breaks for you that you'd have to pretend to orgasm just bc you can't say you want to stop. Once you stop doing that, you will realise how messed up it is.

Find ways to work on your self esteem! I recently heard a helpful example that helped me contextualize these types of feelings: "Imagine you are 6'5". Now imagine someone comes up to you and says you are short. Do you feel hurt? No, you probably just think that that person is really weird or dumb, and wonder what's wrong with them but quickly move on". The reason that statement wouldn't hurt is because it doesn't resonate with who you know you are at all. Insults that do hurt us, only do so beca…

Half your age plus 7, it's a guideline for the minimum age that your partner should have. For example someone who is 40 should date someone who is at least 20 + 7, so 27 years old.

I know this is off topic and hopefully not disrespectful but I am obsessed with how good she looks. I can figure out the hair, nails, make up, but (and forgive me if this is rude) how do I get my breasts/decolleté to look like that? Is it the neckline/dress? Specific type of bra? Workout? Or is she just genetically blessed?

I've looked as well and it's still plausible that she's a woman but holy shirt that history.... waifu's, doomers, calling others "normalf*gs", defending pedophelia (defending people with an underage waifu bc ~thought crimes~). What is she even doing here?

I think a healthy mix of male and female friends is a good sign (take close note of how he treats the female friends here, you're looking for someone who sees women as full human beings and not validation machines). I think only male friends and only female friends are both warning signs for how he sees women.

Yes. I saw a post last that explained really well why this can be so harmful, unfortunately idk where to find it. Basically, it puts the responsibility off the man to check for signs that you are uncomfortable, it puts you in a position where you're less likely to enforce your boundaries because you don't want to offend this person that is supposedly trying their best to respect you, and it leaves you felling responsible/guilty when you fail to clearly verbally establish your boundaries, even if…

There are some risks with this - being expected to pay more - losing money on him in marriage/divorce - he may pretend to be HV because of percieved minitary perks - is less likely to spend money to treat you And probably some other stuff. Just the psychology of it, where he no longer feels the need to step up and pull his weight or "provide" for his family in whatever way. Ultimately I think if he really is HV then it can be done. Before FDS I had a boyfriend that was quite poor, def had a lot …

Yeah, every time anyone posts in aita about a woman not liking the engagement ring she was given, tons of pickmes come to chime in abouthow their husband gave them a cheap, fake or even toy ring and that they still loved it and its ~so romantic~ and if you REALLY love your bf you don't care about how expensive the ring is 🙄

Thank you! That was all 7 years ago, I rarely even think about it and I've grown a lot since then. I'm currently in a very happy relationship with an amazing guy who continues to impress me every day. I haven't seen that ex in forever so idk how he is now but last I heard from him he failed his exams, was depressed and his new gf broke up with him. Lmao is this a thing? I got dumped by my first (abusive) bf after a year for not wanting a threesome. Same story, tried to be the cool girlfriend, did everything for him and forgave everything he did while he never did anything for me and he was still always complainig! He had so little respect for me. This is sad. Just block and move on. You're just doing him a favor by giving him more attention. This woman is still looking for his validation if she feels the need to justify herself in a whole ass paragraph as to why she doesn't like him. He senses that and it definitely only makes him feel more superior to make her squirm like that. This is NOT fds and we should NOT be using this as an example. Edit: Also it's probably fake. I am 23, emotionally ready for a child and am in a long term stable relationship with a man who I know will be a good father. Yet I know I won't be able to have one for at least 3 more years since we have to finish our education and are not financially stable. Most likely we won't be able to have one until 29~30. I've always wanted many (3-5) kids so it's possible I will have to get pregnant in my late 30s. It sucks and I wish there weren't so little opportunities for young adults nowadays. (To …

I think we're basically saying the same thing. Imagine you want to find out how much free time people have through an online survey. You find out most people have about 3-4 hours of free time a day. That data is the data you got from your survey. Can you assume from this survey that people really have 3-4 hours of free time a day in general? Maybe the only people that respond to your survey are people that have a lot of extra time on their hands, and people with little free time don't respond, m…

Many women (and men) have low vetting skills, low self esteem and low standards. If you are truly in a right state of mind and fully independent, you still have some chance of finding a good relationship that will improve your quality of life. FDS is one example of an effort to avoid this trap of having men take away value from your life. I do actually think FDS is very generous in calling most men Low Value, implying they still add value to your life. I think most men are Negative value, some a…

These kind of responses make it sound like you're trying way too hard to out-diss him. It will come off as desperate and insecure, like youre hurt by his statement and want to hurt him back. Other commenters have already mentioned more subtle and dignified ways of responding.

A lot of women have bad experiences with feeling pressured to give out their number. For some it's just a kind gesture to seem less pushy. I think considering this context it's not necessarily a bad sign, as long as they pick up the slack as soon as they do have your number.

Species with quickly independent young are often polygamous, while species with long-term dependent young are often monogamous. It's not just about fertilising an egg, to truly pass on genes you must be succesful in raising offspring that can also succesfully mate. While this biology talk doesnt necessarily ring true in modern day society and culture; despite polygamy having some advantages monogamy is still more biologically true to human nature. Spinning plates is an important part of FDS, you're fine. Keeping your options open leaves you less vulnerable for manipulation. Men don't have this worry so they should be focussing on you only. That's just the short explanation but its been explained more in depth on the sub somewhere.
