Implication. It’s implied. Obviously no one is outright saying to ‘give up’. And if there’s no line, then they are the same philosophy, so the actual implication is that finding internal fulfillment and finding a partner are mutually exclusive. Being happy with myself isn’t the only thing I, personally, want. It seems like a lot of the advice in FDS lately is about hedging your bets, working on yourself so you don’t get trapped or ruined by a LVM, but like I said, there’s a point where it’s all …

I’m very happy for this woman, and I know women personally who are happy on their own too, but that’s still not what I want. I’m struggling to see where the line is between the assertion of one’s independence from men for the betterment of yourself, and the implication that it’s just better to give up on finding a partner entirely.

I’m so glad to hear that you write with FDS principles in mind. I love reading fanfiction but the amount of violent stories (or art or other fandom content) labeled as ‘romance’ is a huge issue for me.

I’m a newbie here, so keep that in mind, but doesn’t it depend on what you want for yourself? To put it simply for myself, I want to have a family, so getting married is a part of that. If what you want to do is easier to accomplish without a husband, then I agree—why would you want one?

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I don’t even have anything to add to this, it’s just gross and no one deserves a creep staring at them.

Doing ‘all that shit’ is done in order to make you better, mentally and physically. It’s about doing good things for yourself (and only yourself. Did you see a partner involved in any of this?) How does that detract from you being or becoming HV?

Never wearing pinks or reds. Too flashy, too feminine. Nothing frilly or delicate. It would just emphasize the difference between myself and my brothers, and I always wanted to be treated like one of the boys. But I still think my logic was pretty solid as a kid, at least for a while: if I acted loud and dumb and roughhoused with my brothers, there were fewer expectations of me. I wasn’t asked to do chores or help in the kitchen as much 😂😂

I didn’t even consider this. Thanks for raising awareness, I get my first shot soon so I’ll keep an eye on how it affects me, and ask around to see if other women in my life noticed anything about it.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
