The Red Pill by Cassie Jaye is about Men's Rights Advocates (MRAs), and doesn't really discuss dating strategy. I don't think the "cares about men's issues" pill should be the same color as the pickup artist pill. Or I guess the pill is about rejecting a mainstream default view, and what you do with it varies. I've heard of men dying earlier in their lives, but I've never heard of a gender gap in people dying each year. CDC data show a gender gap of maybe 3%, nothing like 1.4 (140% more). And if each year of one's life was the intended meaning, then wouldn't women live 1.4x longer? The gender gap in life expectancy is around 6% (5/80), again far less than 140%.

Good point. However, in states that have banned abortion, I'm not sure there will be any clinics to perform the procedure even if it is legal in case of rape. Keeping a medical clinic open requires a steady stream of clients. So if a woman has to travel to a state where abortion is legal anyways, she has no reason to falsely accuse her partner.

I think the #1 thing we can do right now is raise awareness. Most people haven't heard of men's issues at all, or if they have it is often a caricature meant to dismiss us. If you're a woman, then your voice may carry extra weight because many people assume that men advocating for men just don't understand women's issues. Speak up when you see hate and misinformation. Only when large swaths if society recognize an issue can we truly change it on a policy level.

"An environment that is exclusive to people of your gender/race/etc." is the definition of segregation. It means you cannot join clubs reserved for the other gender. Equal access to education is the same issue that American blacks fought for in the 60's. You might argue that segregation is sometimes OK, maybe in private groups, but the topic at hand is government institutions and others who take money from the government.

The notion of gender roles isn't supposed to do all that much explanatory work. It's the specific traits and activities characteristic of each gender (the roles themselves, not the mere idea of them) that start to make testable claims, and even those I see as uncontroversial. Feminists and MRAs alike recognize these roles even if we disagree on their causes and effects on each gender, or the extent they can or should be changed.

I take the typical feminist view (feel free to correct me) to be that: there are plenty of scholarships for men scholarships for men aren't as important because female-dominated fields aren't as prestigious or in demand the blame for any lack of men's scholarships lies mostly with men, since they have more money I believe all 3 of these beliefs are erroneous, and/or short-sighted, and a peer-reviewed study might cast doubt on #1, especially in comparison to an informal study like this.

While I agree with the intent, this piece has substantial flaws that reduce its effectiveness. Stories posted on Reddit are insufficient to demonstrate that male victimization is a significant problem; statistics (Archer 2000, CDC 2010) would be more compelling. Is there any evidence that the Coalition for Battered Women discriminates against racial minorities? Their mission statement is evidence of sexual discrimination, but adding unproven assertions only weakens our case.

CDC did NOT change their definition in 2012, and their latest sexual violence survey was in 2010. This 2014 CDC fact sheet has a larger number of men "made to penetrate" than men "raped", which would be impossible if "made to penetrate" were included in the definition of rape. FBI changed their definition in 2012. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

You're falsely inferring causation from correlation. Conservative women tend to get securely married for a variety of reasons, especially religious pressure to avoid sex before/between marriages. Women are no more selfish than men, and they vote with their minds more than their purses.

You've biased the responses by bundling the female stranger with a child. The results are probably mostly due to sexism, but could also result from empathy for children. OK but then why are students more likely to report to the police than non-students? FTFY. A couple speculations: (1) socio-economic class - non-students are less wealthy and therefore more likely to do drugs or steal. Hence distrust of police. (2) feminism - students take a broader definition of rape. They are more likely to describe consentual or mutually incapacitated sex as 'rape' but also more likely to realize and take it seriously if they've actually been raped. EDIT: I got it backwards D:

I didn't say black because poor. But I do stand corrected: students are more likely to be black than nonstudents! There are four times as many white college students as black (NCES 2013), but there are five times as many white nonstudents as black (Wikipedia). TIL blacks are over-represented in US colleges. Is there a flaw in my reasoning here? Seems weird. Maybe this is a result of affirmative action / racist admissions policies.

Thankfully we do have insiders - egalitarian feminists who speak up for men's rights. Cathy Young, for example. While they surely are making progress, many feminists hate and disown them for suggesting that their movement may be overreaching and hurting men. We don't win by default, but we make slow and steady progress. Call me pedantic but I'd be lying if I said I'm a feminist.

Strength/independence - masculine virtues - can devolve into egotism/callousness. Feminine vices like entitlement are related to virtues like empathy. A realistic view of gender roles has to see the plusses and minuses of both. And there's a difference between "subscribe to a constant victimhood" (what feminists do) vs. "admit when you're actually a victim" (when more men need to do).

Fair point about cancer, though which option is worse obviously depends on how big the risks are and how one personally balances risk vs. pleasure. I agree that abortion should be entirely her choice. But given that she controls whether the baby is aborted, adopted, or abandoned, she is especially responsible for the outcome. Distribution of financial responsibility should reflect her abundance (his lack) of choices.

Not surprisingly, the vast majority of incapacitated sexual assault victims (89%) reported drinking alcohol, and being drunk (82%), prior to their victimization. FTFY (see 2007 CSA study) I agree that the study overstates the true prevalence of rape of college women (seems to be around 5% or 1-in-20) in order to manufacture a "rape culture" crisis. But the sentence you quoted is not in the report.
