To be fair, the psychological damage to a 14 year old boy is pretty much non-existent in this situation. Hell, I think most 14 year old boys would consider themselves extremely fortunate and even as adults look back at the situation with fondness. I think if you were prone to psychotic delusions or on drugs it could be possible, but still unlikely. I'm not defending her, there's no excuse and it's obviously horrific whatever happened. However, from that story it sounds like it was possibly the case that a couple of stupid, abusive and mentally ill people made a terrible mistake.
