My best mate, while living on the other side of the world has been a godsend. Being able to call or video chat with him has really helped me over the last year since I separated. He does care reaches out all the time to check on me. My Dad has also been invaluable. So, while I am a couple of years behind you and in my 30s, so I cannot comment on the other points, I disagree wholeheartedly with your first point.

My best experiences have been hinge, bumble and feeld. Feeld is great if you are kinky! My profile is still pretty rubbish as I just don't have any decent photos of myself without my ex or kids etc. Had a date last night from feeld. I have been separated about a year and using the apps about 6 months. It can be mighty hard and lots of ghosting happens. But I have had a good few dates and met some lovely women, nothing long term, but I am not looking for that at the moment. Tinder has been the wo…

Doesn't seem like an idiot move. You raised the boys and I assume love them. Be in their lives for yours and their sake!

Well she won't be able to do that if you get a proper custody agreement. In fact if she does you will be able to get more custody etc I would think. Which would probably be for the best, plus she would likely need to pay you. Not sure about laws in Aus mind you! You will be ok. It will suck for a while. Still sucks for me. But it is becoming more bearable as the months drift by.

100% stay in Aus my dude! I have a 5 year old and almost 2 year old and am going through divorce at the moment. The longest I don't see them is two days. Which was really tough at the start, still is, but you get used to it and adapt. I have zero support as well. So the days I have my sons are lovely, but also very difficult and tiring, especially if my 5 year old is in a shite mood! It will be MUCH easier for you with 1 kid. I didn't think having 2 kids was a big deal when I was with my ex, but…

This is a joke right? What, did you walk out to get cigarettes and milk and never come back?

I am not really far along enough to give great advice, but I can emphasise to some degree. I was in the wrong with my divorce and we have been split about a year. Somehow my ex has been just incredible about the whole thing. She wants what is best for our boys I know, but still I am round the house numerous times a week just hanging out. It is the family home and I moved out about a year ago and got my own place the kids could stay with me about 7 months ago. But it is a shit house and the famil…

Hey man, sorry you are going through this. I have been stuck in a similar doom spiral for the past year. My biggest crutch was alcohol so definitely steer clear of that. Thankfully I have avoided court. My issues are mainly self caused, I am the reason for the break up etc. But my guilt and dark thoughts have kept me in a state of depression for the last year. I work in an office but it is basically just me as have taken over my Dads struggling business. Work stress on top of things make life ha…

I'm around 6 months in. Kids are much younger so I don't really have experience with the daily debriefs and nightly chats about life. My 5 year old barely ever tells me or his mum about his day. But I see my kids Monday morning, then they stay at mine weds evening to Friday morning and one day and night at the weekend. Usually Saturday. It's tough and I'm not really used to it. But you do the best you can. No reason your arrangement has to be biweekly etc. Or that you have to move out. I did but…

In a similarly lonely boat. Don't turn to drink like I did, is my only advice. God luck.

Struggling myself! I have a core group of old mates from school but they live pretty far away and we all have young kids so meeting up with them is rare. Maybe once every 3 months. All of our friends of recent years were gathered by my ex. Now they all hate me which is understandable, so I can't even organise play dates with my boys. Sucks. My own fault though. I am 37. Thinking of getting in to some easy sports that I haven't done in a good decade+. That is where I met most of my mates in my 20…

I am at the start of your journey. 5 and 1.5 year olds. Split a few months ago. The 5 year old struggles most weeks. But doesn't ask. We have agreed that when he does that we will say that mum and dad couldn't continue to live together and be the best mum and dad at the same time. We needed to live apart in order to be the best we could be. Something like that anyway, my ex always puts it better when we chat about it. You can tell them when they are older. I am in your wife's shoes and am dreadi…

Ah man! Sorry to hear that. That is tough. Well done you for putting your kid first. You should be proud of that, especially putting up with her shite! Wish you all the best. Good luck!

Dad who was responsible here so your opposite I guess. I haven't posted on socials since. Very guilty and just feel like shit about the whole thing. But have kept following for no real reason really. She sends me pics and vids most days personally and then I see some in her socials. If you aren't really in contact and want your kids and her to have a decent relationship then keep her on socials she will then know what you have been up to and can talk to your kids about it. If she cares. I'm goin…

Living in a small terraced house in the UK while my wife lives in the marital home. Hate my place. Garden is fucked. Have the bare minimum to exist and have the kids over every few days. Money goes on rent, bills and mortgage and bills. It's shit.

Having the kids on my own is tough, mine are young. I get anxious about it all the time. Say and do the wrong things when they are with me sometimes. But man, I couldn't imagine only seeing my boys every other month! Being near your ex does not mean bumping in to her all the time etc. Just when you swap the kids. I live 15 mins from my ex, all be it we have only been split up for around 6 months properly, and I haven't bumped in to her once. We have 50/50 ish.

I'm mid 30 and just started on the dating scene last month. Mainly through apps. Have changed my age range to 30+. No interest in younger as the conversations will be difficult I imagine... I'm in the UK.

Same boat man. Working up the effort and positivity to get out in to the world like you. Have been looking at getting back in to sports. A fair few evening leagues etc where I am. I was really in to woodworking, but that passion fell away as I rent now and have no interest in building furniture like I did. So that will have to wait until I own a home again. But if you do, maybe that is something you could consider? Similar hobbies...?

I am in a similar position. Moved to a new area and my wife made all the friends and they have stuck with her as they should. So I have no local support network. My parents help financially and emotionally, but more from a far. I go to AA once a week and that helps for what it needs to, but not much around being lonely. I am lucky that I still have a nice group of mates from school. One has been through divorce. Most live 1+ hour away and have their own lives, work stresses and kids. But they al…

I'm newly separated and mid 30s. Between having my two young boys over and work I haven't had the time to even think about dating. Place I'm living is a bit depressing/embarrassing as well. But I have had some nice interactions with ladies in a few places that I think could develop. The gym and at a couple of work events for example. When I get round to it I think I'll focus on things I enjoy and see if I can't sign up to some groups etc. A book club, hiking clubs... Volunteer to be a couch for …
