What is PPD

Absolutely personality matters. It’s also true that men with shitty personalities get women left and right. So it’s a lot more complicated than saying “women like x.” Women also say they like intelligence in a man, yet studies actually show women in practice don’t value it as much as they report

Right I get it. Not all them are 5’4, some are 5’10 but have absolutely no dating prospects despite making 800k annually. One of them finally found their first partner actually recently at 24.

Exactly, I wanted you to admit a man’s looks is also important for the woman. Let’s not pretend it isn’t #1 priority for both sexes

Clearly doesn’t explain a lot of behavior still. If your assumptions about women preferences were that strong, all of my 5’4 nerdy Asian friends in the top 1% income would be dating supermodels. But they aren’t.

While that could be true, it’s also very true that quite a few athletic and healthy people get barely to no attention because it’s hard to change an ugly face without surgery. I’m not ugly, but I wanted to slim down my cheeks and have a sharper facial structure as a dude by losing more weight and working out. Well, after almost 30lb lost with visible abs, my cheekbones barely visible with sustained roundness.

Quite the generalization for women to be mainly focused on financials.

So true, for me it was focusing a lot on academics and developing little social skills, so even though I was conventionally attractive and 6ft+, I got little play from women and erroneously concluded that since the hot guys don’t need to make moves or have charisma to attract women, I was just not good looking. I realized what was going on eventually when I met this one pretty girl from high school. Apparently she had a crush on me for years which I never knew, and while hanging out together, sh…

Whatever random Reddit ppl behind a screen think of me isn’t a brag. I’m just saying men can both under and overestimate their market position. Because saying “oh men always think they’re better looking than they are” leads to just lower self esteem and discouragement that’s misguided.

Absolutely, this is the way

Absolutely true, a man can also overlook women who would otherwise make great partners bc they may simply not be attractive enough to that man. I’m sure many (not all) men who complain about where the “good woman” are often translates to “I want a pretty girl who can magically see how great of a man I am over these other douchebags for her to pursue me and me only.”

Perhaps but it’s also possible to underestimate your dating market position. It took me quite a while to realize i was in top 10% of men because i had warped mindset with low self esteem.

How do I receive this cherished flair of yours? Can’t seem to see it as option on the subreddit

Well I’ve had the privilege of having a glow up and weight loss combined from being average looking before, and I’ve seen how the dynamics and treatment by girls changed overnight. That’s what’s driving my opinions and observations on this.

I know why people have friends. But for the girl/guy dynamic where say both are single and looking for someone, wouldn’t it be obvious that the most common reason they’re not dating is that there’s no romantic interest between them? If the guy say becomes super hot, I highly doubt many girls in those guy friend relationships would maintain platonic boundaries. Because after all, beings friends means she already enjoys his company and have mutual interests to begin with. If the major barrier was …

I see, so basically you’re saying to swing in complete opposite direction of what you’re used to and “calibrate” from there to find a sweet spot if I understand correctly

If you say it’s the worst advice, how come there are lots of girls that keep guy friends around? If the difference most of the time between friend and romantic partner is the man’s physical attractiveness, wouldn’t my point make sense? I have friends who are girls but in all of those cases it’s lack of physical interest from one or both sides

I agree with the encouragement to get outside the comfort zone and experience new things. However, the way they describe it could be taken as centering their entire lives around finding a woman. Men would ideally find women doing the things they love and living the life in a way suiting their personal goals while happening to find love along the way. I don’t have to join book clubs, sewing meetups, or other things I don’t enjoy to find women if I can meet them in more ordinary places like work, …

Well I think they’re upset at the fact society stigmatizes men who seek aesthetic improvements, with surgery being the most common stigma. Yet society also says “well you don’t deserve girl [X] regardless if you’re a good person/successful because you’re not in her league looks wise.” Like the one path men have to improving their dating options to the highest extent (becoming better looking) is also the one that’s most stigmatized and looked down upon heavily, not to mention the financial cost. …
