I apologize for making assumptions about your thinking. I agree with everything you've said. I'm diagnosed with Cptsd from childhood trauma and I suspect mild Aspergers. If you managed to accept unfairness I think I could learn something. Have you had any success with becoming personable? Can you share some about that or is there a post where you have? Thanks.

No, lots of people are limited in that way. People with autism for example. I apologize for being negative but I'm annoyed by this message that the world of dating isn't unfair and painful for many people. Look up statistics for how many men with Asperger's are able to have even one relationship during their lives. It doesn't reflect the dating experience for many people and will give them false hope.

Perhaps he became good at it through the education for the job, which I guess is about reading people and being able to change their states to avoid a conflict. Still, IQ is probably the best important attractive traits in men in our society and I believe many of those "unattractive men" people use as evidence that anyone can be successful are probably genetically gifted that way instead of appearance.

Have you considered that your successful friend might be simply a highly intelligent, and gifted genetically in that way? There's a huge correlation between excelling in social skills and having a high IQ for example. And a high IQ naturally leads to higher income jobs, etc. It's one of the most attractive traits a person can have in modern society and probably matters more than appearance in men in dating success, due to beign able to learn social skills and getting high level jobs.

I struggle with depression and when I posted this I was in a very bad mood. I feel a little better now, perhaps able to think a bit more clearly. First, about this book, I think that even if it's true it's such a depressive topic which is useless to know (as I don't think it gives advice or anything on appearance, something a social skill book might do), that you become suspicious of the purpose of it. In a society that struggles with lookism having a negative impact on peoples lives, where comp…

I am a virgin. I see all forms of love (sexual, friendship, caregiver-child, mentor-student) between humans as a "radar" for finding, supporting, protecting good genetics: nature's own eugenics. Looking at it deeper there's nothing beautiful about it, though the hormones makes it feel like it is.
/r/ExRedPill29/02/20 01:25 PM

Love is just a temporary state produced by some hormones and seems pretty meaningless to me. It means nothing if someone said (and someone has) that they're in love with me, its just an instinct to make babies. Love outside of that doesn't exist.

I recognize myself a lot in the "Incels": traumatic, low nurturing upbringing, feeling lost and immature as an adult, feeling ugly, low self esteem (I'm diagnosed with C-PTSD and Major Depression). I've read a bit about psychology do and I'm somewhat aware of the symptoms: taking out anger, the immature rage a small child feels when his needs aren't met, on yourself because you learned it was too threatening to express it to your parents, and nr 2, wanting to fill the hole that a loveless childh…

I'm not sure, since I don't socialize and never dated. I guess I have the same instincts as everyone else: attractive people "seem" kinder, wiser, more skilled, more lovable, etc, and if I were to "fall in love", it's probably mainly to someones looks as long as their personality isn't too bad, according to this science. It all just seems so empty and dumb.

I wouldn't know anything about that, but I'm sure it encourages lazy, shallow, fear-driven (and I stress that) thinking. That's what the whole ideology is built up on, supposedly? As it's been shown here--very generously in the "first aid" thread--there's not much evidence for any redpill claim, or so it seems at least.

Thank you. That's true, we shouldn't be afraid to ask questions. These sort of questions has a way of making many stupid though I believe, because hypergamy, red pill-theory, i.e. a deeper connectedness in couples cannot exist, is simply an angst-inducing topic.

First, that story is awful. Second, I feel stupid for thinking this statistic shows anything about women's sexuality when it's probably entirely about other factors.
/r/ExRedPill13/01/20 10:07 PM

It was common in history when women weren't allowed so much in the work force, and the only way to improve their lives or social status was to marry a richer man.

Even if a successful (attractive) family had only sons and all of them became fathers it would be significant in the statistic, because the gender ratio is 1-1. What do you mean exactly with "reversed the MGTOW rhetoric"?
/r/ExRedPill13/01/20 07:43 PM
2

Yes, I wasn't thinking of that. It was a serious problem throughout history. Cultural factors are probably another very big cause of this, and it might say little or nothing about women's sexuality if they weren't free to make their own choices in selecting men. Also hypergamy in the classical meaning of the word, marrying up in social-economic status probably also plays a role, as women's only way to climb up on the ladder in society was to marry a richer man. Maybe poor couples choosed not to …

The classical meaning of the word means marrying up in terms of social and economical status, but groups like Red Pill, MGTOW, PUA's etc use it to describe women's criteria for attractiveness in men as them being pickier than men and generally only dating "up" in attractiveness, attractiveness being looks, intelligence, social status etc. I personally don't know if it's true or not. I've read posts here trying to debunk it but also heard guys like Mark Manson, who seem level-headed and honest, s…

I think you misunderstood. The authors say that, on average, half the population of men made the entire population of women pregnant; therefore those men made, on average, 2 women pregnant across their lifespan.

It's embarassing, but my claim was just the post of another redditor. I also saw an article by New York Times claiming women reproduced twice as often, not 4 times to one.

Does it prove hypergamy, in the sexual biological sense, among women? If not, could it be socioeconomic factors, as well as cultural, have caused or partly caused this outcome?

From what I know, Tinder is only really useful if you look good and most people there are focused on looks. So it might not be the best place for you to meet people if you're not very good looking. Second, and this is an advice that makes a lot of sense to me: stop caring about girls and instead focus on creating an awesome life for yourself. Find things you enjoy and develop a passion for something and set goals in life. Live healthy but not just to be slim but because you want to feel vital wi…

I recommend listening to Gabor Maté's lectures on youtube about trauma and childhood development called "hold on to your kids". I also have trauma and he taught me a lot, as did the book From surviving to thriving by Pete Walker. Maté says our personality is mostly a manifestation of our experiences and can change all the time.

I'd seriously be stepping out of my depths if I tried to defend my views with facts (especially considering you're a psychology student and I'm not) but I have a pretty terrible impression of Peterson overall. There's a subreddit (enoughpetersonspam) doing seemingly a pretty good job of criticizing and debunking many of his claims and the studies with which he backs them up. They expose him as disdonest, manipulative, and even outright lying about the studies he cites. He might be correct about …

I'm curious, where did you learn this research? I'm asking because some of the words you use (though I'm sure they're commonly used in psychology) reminds me of Jordan Peterson, a famous psychologist. You don't happen to be a fan of his, are you?

I know next to nothing about Nietszche or his work so I can't respond to your opinions. But based on my assumptions of his work I think I'm more inclined to read philosophy more easily usable for everyday life and personal growth, rather than going down into a deep rabbithole of questions about life that has little meaning to me.

The person saying Manson believes in hypergamy (on Quora) said he believes it's about "masculinity", not money or social status and also not the way the red pill explains it... Did he misunderstand Manson maybe?

What you're saying makes sense to me and is the usual, short answer to the question about Red Pill's hypergamy that I've seen a few times now. I want to know what Manson says about it now, as he allegedly thinks women are hypergamous but not the way Red Pill suggests it is apparently.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've heard that Manson believes that hypergamy exists to some extent, which, after reading the links offered on this sub, made me hesitate to read him. Do you want to share what he's said about this topic? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. About the books flaws, you're basically saying he's lacking some self-awareness when he recommends vulnerability and honesty? Are you talking about the initial attraction phase or long-term relationships? Also, this sub seems to generally agree on that there's so such thing as hypergamy and seem to suggest it's a sexist conspiracy theory. I've read however that Manson thinks hypergamy exists though and this makes me hesitate to read him. I'd appreciate it if you wanted to s…

According to his fan, women's hypergamy in Manson's opinion were about "manliness", not looks.

Well, in some blogs for dating advice I've noticed a lot of very obvious typing errors that I could only assume was deliberate. My guess was that it makes you look less neurotic. But who knows.

Thank you for the reply, I appreciate it a lot. I somehow forgot that women's pickyness is also due to having generally less interest in casual sex and a minority of men being dangerous.

I figured I would actively try to lessen and call out myself on my own focus and desires regarding the physical appearance- I would probably end up happier doing so. Something interesting that I remember reading was about how the invention of the camera had a drastic effect on the way we think about others appearances and made us much more picky. For the first time ever it was possible to see a precise image of someones appearance and also compare it to others. Before that when you looked at som…

That makes sense and is probably great advice. It shows a person value themselves. But isn't there also a kind of charisma to make it look like you put low effort into a profile? Like you're so good looking you look amazing in crappy pictures, or are too chill to care about typing errors, etc
