It's kind of a combination, I really think it's backtracking to say it doesn't exist because men are committing suicide in alarming rates, men are reporting more mental illnesses, and overall most men would say they feel like they can't confide in people. Again I'm not saying it's bad to be masculine, I'm saying that masculine is just a construct that ultimately you get to decide what it is

I believe that toxic masculinity exists, I think it's the things most men are told from a young age like, "stop crying", "be tough", "you need to be athletic", "you need to be the provider of the family".
