It's kind of a combination, I really think it's backtracking to say it doesn't exist because men are committing suicide in alarming rates, men are reporting more mental illnesses, and overall most men would say they feel like they can't confide in people. I believe that toxic masculinity exists, I think it's the things most men are told from a young age like, "stop crying", "be tough", "you need to be athletic", "you need to be the provider of the family". Toxic masculinity is the societal pressure that gets put on all men to act in a way that is not only harmful to men's mental health but also leads to men being abusive to other people.
