I've actually been using that as a litmus test for every guy I meet. So far not one guy has respected any boundaries.

I am a year on and back on track financially. He was slowly draining me in every sense and everything has finally bounced back. It just irks me that o let it happen, I could be farther along in life by now but I wasted my time on him.

First one wasn't true for me. Instead he gave out about how they were the scourge on the gaming world. He seemed to also hate women in STEM because, according to him, it was embarrassing and special treatment. I think at some point a woman got a job instead of him in the past but he never said because he always said that most women got employed in science and tech roles because sexism has started to go the opposite way.

He needs to be a better person and not need to be inspired good god. So is he just a shot show of a person until his own personal therapist comes to carry his load of shit? Good lord.

Yeah I am so glad iam free and I will never go near that shit again! I was so trapped. A lot of guys seem to think this is what you have to do. Sad really.

My Nex really started to refer to me as the "ball and chain" despite not having the balls to marry me. He really loved the whole men aren't supposed to listen and are supposed to hate their wives and women are supised to do everything and nag all the time. But he would always maintain he was a modern man who didn't believe in gender roles. I'm mortified it took me so long to see the light.

Christ! It must be a common trait! He was always crying about how he wanted to fix the world and yet would not actually contribute but sit and pontificate instead of these half baked ideas think smoking weed was going to elevate him to a level of genius.

You just described my Nex. Holy hell. Mine drinks and smokes non stop while telling everyone how the world should work all from his rotting gaming chair.

Someone once told me to watch their eyes when they are smiling. If their eyes don't match the emotion they are faking it. Once I noticed it I couldn't unsee it. Its pretty frightening. I'm so sorry you encountered so many, I hope because we recognise the signs that we can cut them out fast before damage gets done.

Jesus that is so fucked up. That therapist is so unprofessional. Trust me, if they are left to their own devices they only get worse and believe their own shit more and more until the arrogance takes over and they escalate their manipulation tactics. I hope you are well free of that situation now.

Oh my god the eyes. Looking back on my years with my Nex I always thought it was odd that he had these dead eyes and caught him with his eyes open while we kissed a few times. He used to have a dead eye look when he was trying to seduce me aswell it used to frighten me. Just dead eye look for everything. Zero emotion in his eyes unless he was laughing at something shitty or a level of tantrum rage.

No problem! I hope ths helps you weed out the wolves in sheep's clothing. They seem to know a lot about the mind and preach about mindfulness yet are the worst for playing mind games. "Self help" is definitely a good term. They are so good at it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/04/21 07:30 PM

Well, I've just noticed that men I've encountered with serious issues seem to dismiss therapy or counseling as a tool to help themselves but will swear up and down that meditating and practicing mindfulness helps them. They then proceed to manipulate, deflect and ignore issues while preaching about meditation and simultaneously whinging to me that they wish they could do better in the relationship but just don't know how. It's just a trait all the manipulators in my life seem to have.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy19/04/21 06:41 PM

If a guy says he meditates or practices mindfulness he is manipulative and doesn't face his problems. If a man thinks the Big Lebowski or any other sort of lazy ass bum or drunk is a legendary character then he is a scrote. Guys who are gamers and spend more time gaming than actually doing grown up shit they are also scrotes.

I LOVE Harley even more now that she is no longer being abused by a dirty old psychotic man. Her personal growth and her reflection on her abusive relationship is nice to see, and watching her come into her own is so refreshing. I've actually started enjoying her more now.

Yep. Wasn't couples counselling it was counselling for us both and in a tantrum one night after just two sessions he told me therapy wasn't working because he did all the things he was told to do and I was still not doing what he wanted me to do. Basically he spent the entire session talking about me and how to get around me, not working on his major fucking issues. I almost died when those words came out of his mouth.

Agree but there is the opposite end of the spectrum where he puts his mother before you and its her opinion that takes over the relationship. Mothers boys can be extremely problematic with infantile tendencies. Speaking from experience.

Honestly I feel like at this rate they are just parasites. Every guy I've encountered so far in my dating endeavours has just been a parasite and I am so sick of it. I honestly couldn't bring myself to open the text and have it marked as read. I was so angry. My abusive ex used to do this shit to me all the time. So it was such a red flag to me. He texted me a few days later I'm assuming he thinks it's enough time for me to get over my tirednessor rethink my answer so I agree to him. I just can't believe I attract this like flies around shit. He just doesn't really react normal like I would ask him stuff about his life and he half answers or ignores question…

I always laugh at the scrotes who tell me I will die alone coz love, we all die alone and also, I would rather never marry than settle for a scrote. I've dodged that bullet thank fuck and I will continue to avoid it. Living my life unmarried and untethered to a scrote means FREEDOM TO BE ME.

I started doing that in the last year or two of my relationship. At first I thought it would teach him to not motor ahead but then I started doing it to piss him off. What he started doing? Not answering his phone when I couldn't find him. In unfamiliar places in foreign places, everywhere. I cant believe I put up with that.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/02/21 08:10 AM

Yep. Can 100% agree here. My Nex used to launch himself ahead everywhere we went. Even somewhere unfamiliar. Getting up to leave from a table somewhere? He was already outside and crossing the road while I was grabbing my bag. Need to tie my shoelace and I tell him three times to stop? Apparently he's deaf and miles ahead. He literally never would check i was still there until he was miles ahead and then would turn and look angry when I wasn't there. I could never walk beside him as he would gra…

When I began to wise up to his mind games and began to hold my ground he got more angry and had less moments where he showed he cared. As soon as he lost control over me he showed his true colours. He maintains its me who is mentally unstable to this day, sure, I'm the one with a damn good career climbing the ladder and you're the broke ass fool with not a red cent to your name but ok. His BS seriously backfired on him.

My ex of 15 years and I had this issue. It was always on me that it was somehow my fault I had zero sexual desire. When the fog lifted i realised it wasn't my fault. He was emotionally and mentally draining ne and sex became a depraved act. I got so sick of it all. I had to provide for him in every way and he barely fulfilled any of my needs in life anymore. It took me over a year to realise this. I will never go back to the disgusting hell hole I was trapped in again. Since becoming single I am…

Unfortunately a lot of people still don't realise this. I'm pretty sure I'm being slandered as the heartless one despite the fact I have left a relationship where I spent 15 years being an afterthought and never getting respect. Didn't get the house. Wasn't getting anything anymore so I dumped him. Don't really agree with people calling others stupid here it's not entirely fair. I was with a covert narc who manipulated me for years. Finally woke up to the truth and left him. I think as soon as my friends and his started getting married I realised he would have married me by now.

I'm watching it to remind myself never again. These women definitely don't realise they deserve better they think at least they're getting married. I've noticed these men seem to be unable to be functioning adults at all. It honestly breaks my heart that this is the standard for most women.

I sometimes wonder what their friends and family think of their daughter marrying such useless children for men. The show really is a lesson in itself. I used to be such a pickmeisha and made excuses like that for my narc ex saying he was really trying and that he thought of me but really he didn't. I was an afterthought and watching Don't Tell The Bride really brought it all hone for me. Moral of the story is, if they make fuck all effort, they're not worth your time.

There was one I watched earlier and the guy just spent all his money on himself and the groom party, the girls ended up having to make their own hen party. She still married him and thanked him for a wonderful day. Absolute brainwashing.

It's so true. I was the same. I overlooked things. He would always tell me I'm a negative bitter person so when other people would tell me I'm a bubbly, lovely caring person I used to get a shock and think I was an imposter. Turns out I was being brainwashed into thinking that I was a crappy person. I'm amazed at how many people are telling me that they thought I was being capped on by him but felt it wasn't their place to say.

I think at some point our alarm bells were ringing but we loved then so much we just ignored it. They're also pretty good at turning things back on us. Looking back I realise I actually spent more time with everyone in his life and actually bent over backwards for him than he ever did for me. But when I'd ask him to do something like not go on a stag week the same week I turned 30 he'd play up that I never let him have fun and he never sees his friends.... Didn't mention it was my 30th to anyone…

I've learned this now. I was lied to and lied about even upon ending the relationship. Still processing that. But my life feels better off already. I couldn't live the rest of my life knowing I wasn't being loved properly.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy05/08/20 07:26 PM

Oh yeah that's the thing. They make you seem irrational and make you look like a right bitch in front of others. I think his friends thought I was a sour bitch when in reality he had made me tense and uncomfortable and worried so I looked that way and they could then have a "right" to be shitty to me. It boils down to the old stereotype that the women are old dragons in the relationship.

Eugh, he would change for a week or two then go back to his old way. It would occur so much that he would only change for a day and go back, then eventually he would just start lying to cover his tracks. From personal experience I think you might be mentally done with him. As you said though, the choice is yours. Just have a good think about what you feel is right for you and look after yourself.

Oh boy this one is right. When I stupidly used to talk about weddings I was told I couldnt have any of the ideas I wanted because his mom wouldn't like it, she thought it was weird, or it would ruin her day. His dad is a totally arrogant and lazy man who does what he wants. I always had to fit his family's life and my family were being shoved out of the picture. I lost out on a few years with my parents because of them trying to assimilate me yet all the while I was basically his back up mother.…

It's awful. My ex put his mother before me every damn time. If we had gotten married he would have had the day for his mother, not me. He would nearly shove me out of the way to get to his precious mommy if she was in the room. The older he got the worse he got. Still creeps me out.

My ex has a gaming addiction amongst drink and weed addiction too. Talk to him. If he can't be bothered to change then he's only going to hurt you in the long run. Does he do housework and get stuff done outside of gaming? Are you still able to enjoy quality time together? Mine just wanted to watch and play video games and would ignore me and pass me off onto my hobbies or onto other people so he could get his fix.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/07/20 10:03 AM

Here's where he got me to stay longer. He would always encourage me or help me to some extent with my goals but spend more time on that than doing his own goals. He just used my goals as a way of procrastinating and not working on himself. Basically now he can blame me for any failures on his part. He would also encourage me to go to more things that I like.... But go on my own....

He had an obsession with pinching or tweaking my nipples. He used to sneak into the bathroom while I would shower and while washing my hair my eyes were closed so he'd just reach in and pull at my nipples. He'd do it at any opportunity even when I was changing clothes. It got so bad that I felt extremely vulnerable when changing or being in the shower so I'd make him stay out.

I was constantly getting spanked too hard randomly and he was always taking the opportunity to touch my breasts (sometimes pinch) even though I repeatedly would tell him no that I hated it. I now have an issue with my breasts, I feel sick if anything even brushes against my bare skin. I've been conditioned to hate being touched as a result.

Hey, well done on doing what you did. I'm currently only two weeks out of a mental and emotional abusive relationship. I'm still processing it. I cut all contact but still find that I am missing him as part of me is still attached to him (I was with him for 15yrs). I think you should look after yourself right now and leave off dating until you are healed. In the long run you will be better off for it and less likely to attract the wrong kind of partner. Hope you are doing well.

Everything was promised for next year. That holiday I wanted for years was always "too expensive" or the wrong time. When it finally came to things like having children as soon as I was ready it was "we need to get the house first" but with his track record the house would be a long time away. When it came to marriage it was the ring and the time of year wasn't right but I'd be told he'd surprise me some day soon.
