When I was working, I did not tell them about my salary or give details of my job that could implied my salary. Women in my country, which has lots of poverty, are hypergamous to the point of unapologetically accepting that they look for a man that could be their ticket to get them out of poverty or improve their lives. It's not unheard of that mothers use their sons as a proxy for husband providers. I agree with you. My mom seems to give me more attention to me than the other siblings, who get jealous with this, especially my sister.
