As soon as you can get them fixed, go for it- the only thing that my teeth have affected are my canines- (i don't have canines anymore...) and sometimes my tongue gets sores. I understand the sandwich problem, though. It's hard to eat food in general with overbites/underbites. Confidence is key my friend!! I'm assuming crooked/spaced out since you mentioned braces and, alas, i'm on the same boat.
