I have family in the business or plumbing / heating. A lot depends on the environment imo. I enjoyed the 3 years I worked construction myself. It was like an all-day workout. But summers working outside can be hellish. Heavy drinking, staying up late, and not eating right are incompatible with the profession. Self employed carpenters can do well if you have the passion. The big thing there is to understand your tax situation and keep up on anything due. Long term guys in construction look pretty…

Love yourself. Few learn to do this, I suspect. It took me a long time to realize that was missing and get into the habit of treating myself decently. (This may be obvious to some, or most, but it was a big deal for me.)
