*Leftist* surveillance state? I agree with the post otherwise, but citation fucking needed my boy.

This is a joke, right? Surely you aren't so sexist to actually believe those generalizations of men as unenlightened cavemen who should be caged like animals, kept alive only for their ability to create children.

I would be very interested in the citation for this, but was unable to find it!

Thanks for the citation!

You misquoted me a bit. I said that it is ALMOST NEVER enough on its own. I have worked alongside law enforcement. I have worked rape cases. Most rape cases that are only he said-she said never even make it to court. Many never even end up getting to the police for a variety of reasons. The fact of the matter is that there are countless rapes where the perpetrator is not punished and countless cases that aren't even brought to the police. For a case to get to court only on he said she said would…

That sounds like a good system.... That is basically already what we have in place. Eyewitness testimony (aka "he said-she said") is almost never sufficient on its own to have someone convicted. But even with all the corroborating evidence you mentioned, we still get false convictions. So my question still remains. what is a better solution to prevent liars from lying while also allowing the story of true victims to be used as evidence to properly punish the criminal who victimized them? The onl…

Before we get into everything else, I want to make something very clear. It is absurdly difficult to get someone convicted on eyewitness testimony alone. what cannot be backed by evidence isn't admissible in courts Eyewitness testimony is imperfect evidence, yes, and it is treated as such. But isn't it still evidence? I do agree that eyewitness testimony can be taken far too seriously, with tragic consequences. And we should take steps for eyewitness testimony to be not as significant as it is n…

This would be very interesting to me if this originated from a left leaning article claiming it was commonplace, and would very much change my view. However, without a source it reeks of a half dozen falicies and biases. I want to believe you, but I wasn't able to find any sources for your claim. Can you please help me find a source? And if not, could you please not repeat that claim further?

It is happening, even though it is definitely uncommon. But just because it is uncommon (and stupid to do for all the reasons you stated) doesn't mean that it shouldn't be criminal. Also, I agree that women should be in trouble for doing the equivalent, even if poking holes in condoms is much more difficult to prove.

You're not wrong. But do you know of another solution that does a better job of preventing liars from... Lying while also allowing the story of true victims to be used as evidence to properly punish the criminal who victimized them?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
