I feel seen. I know what this is like and it sucks ass. So don’t think you’re alone. Honestly I never solved it back then, and instead my only two relationships came from a) being massively drunk and her being a friend of a friend at a night out; and b) OLD, which led to a terrible first date, which I turned into marriage (eventually) on the strength of an honest text. Now I’m not saying someone shouldn’t leave. And, realistically, why should someone have to leave when someone has approached - they were just there, the other person should probably get the hint and bow out gracefully. Not to light another fire, but if anyone’s afraid to be seen with someone at a bar, that says a lot about their current relationship that isn’t too positive.

Hah, no I came off wrong there. Of course she’s entitled to walk away. I’d like to think if someone I was never going to be attracted to came and sat with me and spoke politely to me, I’d politely excuse myself rather than just silently walking away. Not trying to say he was owed anything. But it’s always nice to be human to one another.

“It’s a joke” is a weak ass excuse dude. She’s totally in her rights to be offended. Sounds like you took a risk and it backfired. No harm, no foul, but don’t go Tefloning it all on her.

I like that - it really is one of the worst case scenarios. Kudos to OP for sharing and shrugging it off.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
