I was just thinking the same thing. "When did I black out and write this comment that I've always just wanted to say out loud, but had made myself too small to do it and have this unnecessary need to protect the feelings of those who hurt me?" Once I painfully realized further into the relationship that he wasn't even hearing anything I said, I stopped arguing. I just listened to him contradict himself and then point it out to see what wild thing he was going to say next. It helped me get the co…

Yeah I feel like this makes the most sense. I’d feel weird wearing someone else’s shoes while they are barefoot. Who knows what is on the ground, so I’m not sure this image is either/or a representation of basic kindness.

I was lead to believe this was controlling behavior for one reason or another and I became too afraid to ask for anything. I didn’t want to experience his irritation which would make it easy to set him off. I couldn’t handle it anymore.

This, this, this!!! Ugh. I wish I knew this much earlier in my life. I have been consistently attending therapy this past year and I will never again be in a relationship with someone who doesn’t do the same or thinks that therapy is only for mental illness. I can’t be with someone who doesn’t value their mental health or let alone themselves in general. I never knew that would put me in a position to take blame for everything and drag down my own mental health.

You are down voting me because you don’t get it. I didn’t tell you that saying manipulating people into sex is wrong. OP didn’t say “Give me advice.” Have you had a chance to read the FDS handbook? Edit: I apologize about the advice part. I didn’t see the post’s label.

I understand that you are taking what she says at face value, but it can be more complicated than that. When you are talking to people who are in what seem to be an abusive relationship, there are many layers to consider. We don’t know what is actually going on because we don’t have the full story. The point is to not make her feel shame. She already feels awful. They both need help, not to feel guilt. Your original comment is not how you talk to people who suffer with their mental health nor wi…

Him exploding and saying hurtful things is abusive and he either does or doesn’t realize that it will impact you. Him saying he loves you after one month is manipulative whether he meant to or not. Him “running” to break up, but willing to think it over is probably because he is triggered and doesn’t know why since he doesn’t seem to be introspective. Your relationship sounds incredibly unhealthy for both parties and staying in it would be detrimental to both of you. But focus on you. You should…

But before you even do this, you need to step back from dating and block this guy. Once the dust settles, I wouldn't be surprised if you discovered it was not ALL your fault. I think this is so important to do and was well put. None of us really know what is going on in her relationship and the dynamic she is experiencing. With her boyfriend describing "chaos" in his mind seems odd. OP, if he left town, this might be your best chance of building the courage to think about not dating anyone for…

Ghislaine Maxwell is a prime example.

Do you? I took it as someone who knows what they want and that it's not marriage. I don't think she was necessarily making a personal attack on other women.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
