My husband and I do live together, but I go to sleep earlier than him and wake up and leave the house before him. I say goodnight to him before I go to bed but he always comes upstairs for a second goodnight on his terms. He's so cute, even if he does wake me up sometimes. I don't say goodbye to him in the mornings because I don't want to wake him but he always sends me a good morning email when he gets into work. If one of us is out of town we always text good morning and goodnight.

I think about this a lot. I have a PhD in chemistry and take my career pretty seriously. I enjoy being in a man dominated field and get kind of annoyed when I'm bombarded with pro "women in STEM." Why do we need to shove encouragement down every women's throat that she needs to be equal to a man? So what if there are men dominated fields? Maybe men are generally better at these careers. Is that terrible of me to say? Any women I meet in my field are very feminist. At home I very much want to be …

We haven't discussed it lately but I know he wants us to be equals. We had a conversation about it before we were married and before he was open to the idea of kids. So maybe his view has changed.

Congrats on the marriage! Hope you aren't on the big island near the spewing lava!

He's a grad student so he gets paid, just not a great salary. He's finishing his PhD which means he's working 50 plus hours a week. No kids yet.

For me, being a RPW is a lifestyle. It means traditional gender roles in my marriage. Being respectful and yielding to my husband as he is the leader of our household. Being feminine and put together. I think of it as being a 50s wife: Doing the cooking and cleaning while wearing a dress and pearls and greeting my husband when he comes in the door with dinner on the table. This is challenging for me at times though because I also have a career and he expects me to keep that career. At the moment…

When we get in those funks it's really hard to be rational. That's why I like to think about it when I'm not in a funk and remind myself that it's just chemicals in my brain making me feel crazy. It's not our fault! Stupid brain. Talk to him. Remind him he's your love and you want your relationship to be the best it can be. Mental health is a challenge and hopefully he can stay patient with you.

We are very similar. I struggle with depression and overly criticizing myself for not being "normal." I tried therapy for almost a year but stopped due to insurance reasons. I almost felt like it made me feel worse because I was learning how destructive I was being to myself. My husband is very supportive and patient with me but he does get exhausted. I found that talking with him about how I feel and how much I worry that I'm hurting our relationship is really what helps smooth things out. Talk…

My husband is 11 years older than me. We started dating when I was 21 and he was 32. We got married 6 years later. He is very young at heart and in his looks. So I don't always remember he is older than me! But he does have plenty of lessons to teach me since he has a few more years experience. I don't think my family was too thrilled about the age difference but I don't care. He's the love of my life and my captain and that's all that matters. Age is just a number.

Oh I need to try this! We usually disagree on the best way to do things. I used to voice my opinion on every issue and he said it felt like I was disagreeing with him just for the sake of disagreeing. So I started only providing my opinion half the time and if he disagrees with me I just say "ok sweetheart" and let him do things how he wants to.

There are so many meal services out there now.

Try one of those meal services like Blue Apron. They send you ingredients for three meals with recipes each week. It helped me to learn more about what flavors go well together and how to make an easy pan sauce that makes any meal delicious. It also taught me about ingredients I wasn't familiar with and dishes I would never think to make on my own. I've kept the recipes and now I try to make them my own. It has taught me a lot about cooking! Now my husband compliments every dinner I make.
