Quite a choice to use the phrase "black and white thinking" as an accusation after dropping bs from a racist ideology lol.

This concept may be useful as an academic tool, but to let it seep through your personal belief system and let it define how you approach life and love is just depressing as fuck. Not any different from putting a "value" on how much a human life is worth and doing calculations on it.

Brother your post got more traction than it deserves despite the zero effort you put into it. Noones going to watch a video by some anonymous moron just to engage in a bad faith argument with you. But you still got honest feedback about why this makes no sense and Ive pointed you to a real scholarly source that you'd go into if you actually were interested in learning.

You can be on reddit and still have standards for where you get your facts and what kind of info you build your worldview on lol. Anyway, if you're going to engage in a discussion, why wouldn't you just share your own thoughts than expect someone to do the painful and mentally damaging work of having to listen to an incel grifting channel? Why should anyone put effort in arguing with someone who can't even put their contention down in words?

Mmmm if having to read a book is such radical advice then that's exactly where you need to start my friend. Less social media intellectualism, more reading

If you're committed to the view that this narrative is in any way sensible or logical, theres nothing anyone can say that'll convince you otherwise. The only way out is growing up a bit, and that's going to take a bit of time and reflection I suppose. Anyway if you're actually curious about why the roots of the redpill ideas are complete horseshit, you can read some critiques of the field of evolutionary psychology - I recommend watching Robert Sapolsky's lectures where he first explains specifi…

Women tend have very different norms and boundaries among themselves wrt banter, jokes, tone etc. It's not simping to adhere to act as per the company you're in. Imo it's best to play it safe and listen more than you speak until you feel like you better understand boundaries women have. Would go a much longer way than brainstorming ways to 'be nice'

Has it really been 'proven right' though? I haven't followed it too closely, but have they broken up because of this or anything like that? Just seems like the internet and associated celeb culture digging up shit about what someone said at some point - keep in mind these are celebs often putting on a public persona - and assuming they have their private lives all figured out.

I think it should be obvious that anyone would be romantically interested in someone they are attracted to. "Women don't know what they want" is very poor advice. Unless you are less than 20, in which case everyone has poor self awareness about what they like and dislike.

Wrt their biological explanations, the whole thing is based off of some ideas that were debunked as very poor and shady science decades ago. Redpiller "science" is basically what you would expect of a idiots in their twenties with no scientific training looking up "theories" on the internet that sound vaguely familiar from evolution class in school, but mainly serves to confirm their biases against women. For an example redpillers just make a statement like "men prefer women with bigger breasts …

There are no serious academic arguments against redpill because redpill is not a serious academic field. The "science" behind it is at best an extremely dumbed down version of some heavily discredited ideas in sociobiology that are over fifty years old. You don't even hear the term "sociobiology" in contemporary research anymore because of the widespread recognition of how poor the styles of argumentation were. Even the modernised term "evolutionary psychology" is looked at by academics from oth…

He needs therapy but he won't take it. He will probably change once he matures and with experiences but it's going to be very hard to predict that and you don't owe him any lessons on growing up.

Well so most of the evolutionary arguments are pseudo-science that's been debunked for decades now. I suspect you believe in at least some of them given your emphasis on "providing". Attraction is of course an important parameter and like us women can't help what they find attractive, but from my experience as people get older their choice of partners becomes less dependant on physical/emotional attraction, and more on personality factors + compatibility. In general when it comes to non-physical…

Researcher here. Narratives from individual studies must be taken with a pinch of salt - especially when you source them via the media. To understand the complete truth one must familiarise oneself with the field of enquiry itself, understand surrounding literature, and issues and problems in the methods used to study these problems. There isn't a way out of graduate study in the specific field to be able to think critically about the results of such studies. The obvious issue with the claim in …

It depends on the specific type of question being asked. You can for example very rigorously and reproducibly measure phenomena such as attentional blink, or perceptual illusions, or cognitive biases. The variable being measured here on the other hand is a lot harder to believe in - the only way you can get a readout of "fulfillment in marriage" etc is through subject self reports of their subjective experience which are extremely noisy and often unreliable. I don't think such variables are impo…

I don't think there is an objective thing as "good looking" since whom we find attractive varies a lot more than we admit as a society, There's a lot of peer pressure to conform to some conventional standards of what sexy is and isn't, but you just need to look at the thousands of different porn categories to see that people have a lot of different tastes. But of all the people I've been with the most conventionally attractive of them is also the one I've been least happy with. Our relationship …

The counter argument is simply that this argument just like many hypotheses in evolutionary psychology suffers from the ad hoc fallacy. This is true of pretty much every hypothesis by redpillers. Just because one has come up with a story that sounds plausible within the framework of natural selection does not mean that is actually how it happened. Look up BAHfest for more terrible examples of ad hoc hypotheses. At least those are funny.

The way to actually understand a body of science is to get a doctoral degree working on a related problem. There is really no other practical way. If you're going to be reading cherrypicked studies you will take home bad ideas as gospel. Studying it for years under appropriate mentorship arms you with the appropriate skepticism and gives you enough broader context to know which studies to take seriously and which not to. The specific problem here is that evolutionary psychology is a deeply suspe…

Does it simply mean that being conventionally attractive makes you more likely to attract conventionally attractive females? That's kind of obvious. Does it mean that to be attractive you need to be super muscly and a dick to people all the time? That's cap

From what I can tell as we get older we tend to focus less on shallower aspects such as "confidence". "Women like confidence" is just needlessly gendered at best, most people are drawn to people with confidence, but as we get older we also learn to see through bullshit and needless boisterousness (correlated with confidence imo). I don't believe in a blanket thing called "confidence" anyway - most things I think I know have some uncertainty associated with them, and I like to think and act with …
