Men are going to try ruling your life regardless of who they are, lol. Might as well try making sure they’re someone who wants to take care of you and takes pride in being a man.

Yeah, this is what I’m going to do. I’m not mad at him or anything but do want to talk about it.

Thank you for the insight. This is helpful and I totally agree.

My thought is that men either don’t really think about it or at least to some degree it makes them feel better to have photos with multiple women on their profile. I’ve heard some guys argue that it’s because they want to keep the memories, but I don’t have a single female friend who keeps photos of their exes on social media. His current girlfriend probably feels like I do but also can’t really say/do much, lol.

Thanks, that’s how I feel. I don’t want to be a nag about it. It’s just personally not something I would do, but I’m accepting it’s not really something most people think about.

I’m also left leaning and have never really been “offended” by anything I’ve seen on here. If a woman posts that she’s in a crappy relationship, nobody is replying and telling her to get over it and stay — people offer real advice but are also honest about us sometimes having to take personal responsibility. I think people get thrown off by the “redpill” name but truthfully this sub is much kinder to men and women than any relationships-focused sub I’ve seen.

Well, personally given his age, I see this as a red flag. It’s unlikely someone with no ambition is going to change when he’s almost 40 and lives at home… with that being said, if you think the relationship is worth it, I would talk to him about how this is becoming an issue for you. He may need to hear that and understand your limits. I feel that women are more likely to continue “proving” their worth whereas men can think the game is already won once they get the girl. Since you are not marrie…

Lol, this is literally my backstory.

An unemployed dude (at least one who behaves like this) is not a HVM, period.

It sounds like an excuse honestly. Something that’s difficult to admit is that people can really like you and enjoy being with you but not be willing to put in the effort or necessary commitment for a relationship. Plenty of successful people maintain relationships. Success doesn’t bar you from loving someone. This feels like he’s putting you on the back burner.

Leo DiCaprio as well… but it’s because he’s smart and has girls sign NDAs.

It doesn’t really sound like the issue has anything to do with you, and more that there may be something else going on with him personally. How is his mental health? Does he enjoy his job? It also seems like you’re probably pretty attractive — sometimes if a guy feels “less” than their partner, they may pull away (meanwhile, I’m pretty sure women do the opposite). My recommendation would be to give him space and find your independence. Go out with friends, dress attractively, keep focusing on yo…

That’s a really good point. He has been late a few times to pick me up and once for a movie date, but nothing too major. I think I’m not going to risk starting anything by complaining but I might back off a little just from texting (not that I text a lot anyways) and making plans. But you’re right I should just focus on myself and do the most with my free time!

I’m 25 and he’s 27. We’ve only been dating for about 5 months.

This makes sense… and also speaks to why I’ve noticed an increase in effort the second I stop texting him daily… I just need to stick with that. Do you think I shouldn’t invite him over at all this week to try to reset the balance? If I hold out, I feel like he will come through.

I’m not sure how old you are but I would get out now. You can try talking to him but I believe every woman deserves to feel totally wanted by their partner and I don’t think your boyfriend is able to give you that. Men don’t understand that past a certain age it’s wasteful to wait around for a guy who refuses to propose.

I’d be really concerned if my boyfriend expressed a desire to start having children but wasn’t interested in giving me the legal protection of marriage. That’s very unfair to you and frankly inconsiderate of your future children. I don’t judge their parents but my friends with unmarried parents didn’t have great childhoods.

After four months, if you guys haven’t had the exclusive talk, something is wrong. I do think you overreacted a bit just because your feelings about the relationship seemed to be based on assumptions, rather than something the two of you agreed on. I would try talking to him since he seemed willing to have that conversation. You need to figure out what you are and whether he is truly interested in being exclusive.

I think it totally depends on the nature of what he’s watching. A lot of people enjoy ASMR videos because they find them relaxing, they help them focus or fall asleep, etc. If he’s watching ASMR in another language, it’s possible he likes the sound of the voices but finds understanding what they’re saying to be distracting. I wouldn’t consider it a red flag. I love listening to skin care/hair styling/massage ones to fall asleep, lol.

I think that is genuinely solid advice for both men and women. Something I see a lot on here especially in dating subs is both genders seeing their lack of success in dating as a reflection on the other party, rather than themselves. Yes, it hurts to not have someone like you. It hurts to be ghosted. But the truth is that if this is happening to you frequently, there may be something wrong with your approach, or you may have certain qualities that need improvement. I’d also say that you should m…
