There was a recent study that showed that arbitrarily enforcing a quota like that would lead to economic decline in a company but I can't find the article now. Oh well, better for the rest of the competition I guess.

I think we're on the same page, because I meant the general concept of marriage, not limited to monogamous. Yeah you can get married on a whim, but that's an extreme case. You can find extremes to poke holes in anything. I'm not sure it could be avoided by government and again, its not just "religious idiots" but majorities of people in countries around the world. I was raised to think the same way, I think most of us were. The more I read and think about it tho, I no longer see it that way because life was very different for most of our evolutionary past. But its also good to draw a line in the sand somewhere, and if that's your line, so be it.

Wrong. Marriage is common among cultures now and historically, regardless of religion. I have my own problems with religion, believe me. Not all marriages are bad, but I agree that no one should be stuck in it. But it also shouldn't end on a whim, right?

You make some good points, but there's cultural and technology changes too that have shaken things up. Historically, successful husbands also took on younger mistresses once the passion with the wife naturally fizzled, but the wife stayed the main trusted confidante.

His post clearly shows he isn't pro woman. He's right that there's more to it than just ending a marriage, though. It may be called no-fault but it is often as much a misnomer as child support. If a marriage fails, then at least one of you is at fault. That's different than not being able to get out of a marriage.

Disagree. Yeah no one is truly selfless, and there is always those times where we are just waiting for our turn to speak or to stop their sobbing, but there are also times when we are looking out for each other. Experienced it with good family and friends, on both sides. Calling the need for children basically a selfish act - some truth to it, but there is a lot more to it.
