Yeah I suspect it’s some combination of hypergamy, polyamory + a hypergamous man, lesbian relationships and the phenomenon that older women and younger men don’t seem to couple so that hypergamy (typically an older man like you described) is only going one direction. But without statistics I feel weird making any claim and deducing that from a studied in any controlled manner would be a mess.
The goal post is exactly where YOU set it. YOU brought in the argument that this type of man could have a family with women in the age bracket YOU set. And I just said that’s just an inherently dishonest statement. I’ve heard that virgin nonsense before it’s cringe. I’m not saying it, so don’t use it to attack my point.
That’s the million dollar question, statistics to understand why something is happening is really hard. Statistics to show something is happening is a little easier. Understand that question is a step further to understanding this trend we’re seeing.
I don’t have a stake it in either but that doesn’t mean I can’t have empathy for what is essentially the median level of men. Not primarily because of marriage which I don’t want to discount. But because an increase in lonely men in society isn’t a good thing.
Since you’re not tiptoeing around I won’t either. By age 30 a woman has lost 90% of her eggs. And the dangers associated with late age pregnancy, miss carriage, birth defects etc. go up by an order of magnitude compared to someone in their mid 20s. So if your argument is that these women can provide this hypothetical man a family that is stable and has his shit together well that’s just objectively false at least not without major risks. Plumber was a bad example because they do make great money…
Statistics says otherwise, direct quote from the paper “mismatches in marriage market” published in journal of marriage and family. “Average income [for married men] is 58% higher than actual unmarried men.” A difference from the median of 35,000 for unmarried men to 70,000 for married. Just because you know a baller plumber doesn’t change statistics from a peer reviewed studies.
He’s referring to the invisible men. The men that work as plumbers and other laborious jobs that don’t pay 6 figures sometimes (some do pay well but they lack status) too many women are in this delusion that they deserve the top 3% of men 6 figures 6 feet.
