If it was true it wouldn't really matter what people thought of the study. Should certain topics be off-limits for purely political/social reasons, just so we don't hurt people's feelings? If you want to criticize the merits of the study on scientific/statistical grounds, that's fine, but to start off complaining about the sociopolitical ramifications is disingenuous.

The title of this submission is ridiculous. The social/political consequences of a study do not determine its validity.

This is closer to reality than many of you realize. You're becoming anti-science idiots like rad postmodern fems are, in denying any biological underpinnings for sexual violence like rape.

In reality, rapists really are men in almost all cases because rape probably has evolutionary roots. Men could be raped, physically speaking, but taking psychology and evolution into account makes it exceptionally unlikely that a woman would rape a man. Most rapes of men are by other men. But most rapes are against women.

He's representative of a gender based double standard. If older women are attracted to teen boys it's fine, but the reverse is "creepy and perverted". There are plenty of real world examples of this gender discrimination when it comes to sex scandals involving older female teachers and underage male students.

It's an issue because SRS is waging a propaganda campaign against VA, using faux feminist arguments to turn Reddit against him. Imagine if VA were an attractive 49 year old woman who ran subreddits called "malejailbait" that only allowed teen boys (a la twilight, etc). Or if creepshots had been pics of men in public, rather than women. The Gawker article would never have happened, or if it did, no one would care.

I've been to prison in Texas, and when you first get in you get a long orientation on the severe penalties for rape/extortion. Congress passed P.R.E.A. in the early 2000's to address prison rape nationwide and from my experience they take it pretty seriously. There are huge orange signs saying sexual assault will be dealt with severely and you'll be charged with rape in a court of law and be branded a sex offender for life. Even consensual sex isn't allowed (although that's not taken anywhere ne…
