The problem is that the statistic is misleading. It's "50% of marriages", not "50% of people who get married". The rate is heavily skewed because some people get married and divorced multiple times. A big take away is that marrying a divorcee has a really high rate of you getting divorced again.

My fiance` actually read Love and Respect after we were given a copy. It seemed pretty good, but she kept complaining that the book made it sound like problems are mostly the woman's fault.
