Bettina Arndt - Why the CEO of Egard Watches produced his pro-male, anti-Gillette video. Discuss below. For those of you who don't know, Ilan Srulovicz is the man behind Egard Watches. He created a video to respond to the Gillette ad. It was a very respectful video. Funny how the first men you see in the video are firefighters as Gillette tried to go into damage control by creating another ad that used a firefighter. Nice try! From Ilan's Twitter: "my name is Ilan, CEO of Egard. The only reason I attached my company to this (i made this video alone) was because I wanted it to respond in the strong… | /r/MensRights | 31/10/19 10:16 AM
How to avoid GilletteI did a search and found similar discussions in the Badger and Blade forums: "Gillette had an ownership stake in Wilkinson Sword for a very short time in the early '90s as the company was going through ownership changes. Gillette was forced to divest WS in Western Europe, which eventually led it to being paired with Schick and owned by Edgewell. I'll see if I can find a link to the whole sordid tale. (edit: here it is: Wilkinson Sword - Wikipedia ) Anyway, in India, Gillette still owns the Wilki… | /r/MensRights | 01/10/19 11:59 PM
Gillette cartridges are heavily discounted here. Are their sales suffering thanks to their anti-male ad earlier this year? You definitely won't need to worry about blades for many years to come. That's such a great price. | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 08:35 PM
Gillette cartridges are heavily discounted here. Are their sales suffering thanks to their anti-male ad earlier this year?I'm not business savvy so I had to re-read a few articles and definitions to understand you. It seems my earlier statements about a massive monetary loss were not entirely accurate. Thankfully, your post makes more sense. It would be impossible to quantify the number of customers who will never return to Gillette but I think time will tell. My guess is that unfortunately most people will forget this issue over time. In addition, Gillette will readjust their advertising campaigns and pricing in a… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 09:34 AM
I did my part to boycott Gillette.Correct. In that case, Schick is your best option. Keep safety razors and wet shaving in the back of your mind if you want to try something different that's a lot cheaper and environmentally friendly than normal cartridge shaving. These links I got from tenchineuro are interesting to read: https://theweek.com/articles/597848/what-collector-discovered-about-gillettes-razor-blade-scam https://www.bostonmagazine.com/health/2013/08/09/why-are-razors-so-expensive/ | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 02:11 AM
How to avoid GilletteI haven't been able to find anything to support this. My Astra blades clearly say Gillette and P&G so there's no confusion there. I tried to find out more on the Wilkinson Sword Wiki page but it left me confused. If I'm reading it right, Wilkinson Sword is owned by Edgewell Personal Care, which is owned by Energizer Holdings and Schick. | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 02:03 AM
I did my part to boycott Gillette.According to zeerust2000 there is but I haven't been able to find anything conclusive on Wiki etc. https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/d3zafn/how_to_avoid_gillette/f06yp9n?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilkinson_Sword | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 01:56 AM
I did my part to boycott Gillette. As you can see, you're not alone. I also choose to boycott Gillette on principle. I've got nothing against Schick. They released a funny ad in response to the Gillette one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=60&v=RF-iYC5W6Mo But I want to recommend you try double edge safety razors as many have done here. Feather have a plastic razor that comes with 2 blades and it's only $13.49 on Amazon so it's a cheap way to try wet shaving: https://www.amazon.com/Feather-Double-Edge-Shaving-Razor/dp… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 01:53 AM
How to avoid GilletteTo address the "how to avoid Gillette" title of this post, please refer to https://www.reddit.com/r/Gillette/comments/agebzu/boycotting_gillette_101/?utm_source=amp&utm_medium=&utm_content=comments_view_all Unfortunately that thread is archived as I wanted to contribute but maybe we can continue the discussion here. For those in Oz who want to avoid Gillette and have moved to DE safety razors, I recently discovered that Astra are made by Gillette. What a shame. http://astrarazorblades.com/aboutu… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 01:29 AM
How to avoid GilletteTo answer your question, I would strongly recommend safety razors which use double-edge (DE) blades. I too don't shave much and this was by far the best option for me economically and environmentally. I also transitioned away from Gillette on principle. What a disgusting ad! And what a delight to see the company suffer an $8-billion loss. Karma bitches! Going back on topic, I started out with a cheap plastic beginner razor made by Feather. It is $20.99 at Amazon AU at the moment so it won't cost… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 01:20 AM
Gillette cartridges are heavily discounted here. Are their sales suffering thanks to their anti-male ad earlier this year?I know this post is 2 months old but I'd like to re-discuss something. By now you would have read about Gillette suffering an $8-billion loss and many were quick to blame this on the controversial ad. Gillette's response was to say the loss was a "price worth paying" which is nonsense as they are a profitable global corporation and not a political party. Gillette also "attributed the write-down to currency devaluations and lower shaving frequency". I am not a man of economics but I'm skeptical t… | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 12:56 AM
Gillette cartridges are heavily discounted here. Are their sales suffering thanks to their anti-male ad earlier this year?Hi bestkindofcorrect, may I ask which razor blade brand(s) you bought for $50. I'm interested. I transitioned to DE shaving and one of the biggest factors was the environmental impact. Gillette have acted all high and mighty with their ad but I bet they would refuse to discuss this equally if not more important issue. | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 12:37 AM
Gillette cartridges are heavily discounted here. Are their sales suffering thanks to their anti-male ad earlier this year?I'm already across the topic but it was good to read these links anyway. People thinking about transitioning from cartridges to DE should read these articles. | /r/MensRights | 27/09/19 12:31 AM
