Her family is still trying to paint her as the victim. People whine about some stupid-ass shit on this sub, but yes, a joke about domestic violence is fucked up to find acceptable. At the federal level, recording a conversation requires just one party's permission (presumably you). A lot of states require permission from every party involved however.
