Dude..Sorry I didn't make it clear..I meant 70 :30 in my favor. If she remarries or cohabits with another guy , the spousal support ends ..right ? She did not make a dime in 12 years but she is more professionally qualified than me. So I do intend to use Gavron warning as a leverage to divide assets in my favor.

I am in the same boat. 12 years , 2 kids and lot of fun. Some ups and downs. But now she wants to be with her ex as apparently our relationship 'was never emotionally fulfilling for her'. I was dealing with all these emotions that you are experiencing. I got past them when I realized I cant control other's behavior. I am in much happier place now and more relaxed . I think marriage as an institution is too overrated and past it is shelf life. Love ,kindness and compassion in life is more importan…

Yes man ..I reckon the worst case scenario is quite nasty . I hope your friend eventually got out of the tunnel ok . Again the alimony has an end date right ..? If I have to pay alimony for more than half of the marriage timespan, it will be even messed up deal. I am trying to negotiate with STBX and make it uncontested. I have to really buckle up for the next few months.

Yep..I am in mid 40s in CA working in tech. I totally see your point . But i dont have any incentive or motivation to run the 9 to 5 rat race while I go through divorce . I can do a start up gig after an year and do some daytrading till then for income if markets stay this volatile. I know it is risky ..but i really want to reset .

Makes sense ..the only thing i can do legally is to take a break from this nonsensical provider role and have some fun .

I am talking to an attorney . Looks like in my state I will end up paying for atleast half the duration of marriage. I want a ruling that will demand her to find employment that meets her qualifications. I am assuming if she remarries or cohabits with another person, the alimony can be adjusted or stopped

I really hope that is not the case man . That would be bonded labor and against free will .

Yes .. want to finish this chapter asap . She has undiagnosed BPD , NPD and is fickle minded . She may also do a 180 spin once I file . But am done now with the relationship . I want to get the finances in order before filing . She went on a very costly shopping spree last few weeks . So want to make sure my assets and titles are in order and get some common ground on custody before I file

yes man .. will try the medical leave option . I don't want to sell my soul to a corporation 9 to 5 any more for the purpose of providing alimony .

Got it ..thanks. if it is uncontested divorce will they still iterate through all transactions in the last 1 year even on individual accounts that were established before marriage. Will consult with the attorney further.

Thanks man . I see what you are saying . There is a interspousal transfer deed , and mortgage payments all happened from my paycheck. She never worked after marriage .So i have to write her fat checks for some years. So trying to see how I can conserve and preserve. Wondering if i can file it in Texas citing adultery and it will be bit more husband friendly ecosystem.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
