Tbh I rarely hear about it in that context. I usually hear that “women don’t take accountability” in the context that a lot of women will complain about how a man screwed them over / men are trash but yet in most cases, they chose these same men. They don’t want to be accountable for their choice. In most cases, they saw red flags or warning flags but thought that maybe they could change him or that he would improve with marriage, fatherhood, etc.

I never said in my original post that it was a small or big factor. I said it was one of the factors. & that is a fact. A comment you could’ve simply ignored considering it is the case whether or not you think it’s a negligible one.

Well that’s your opinion & you’re entitled to it. You’re not the custodian of truth or knowledge so please face your front & allow me to have my own opinion. I don’t consider it to be a negligible amount but you do so I guess we’re at an impasse. & it’s obvious that my point went way above your head anyway & you didn’t even grasp what I was conveying to begin with so idk what to tell you.

& even if I’m to go down the rabbit hole of your point…. the point you make about politicians gaining social status not because they speak well but because they’re in a position of power. Even amongst politicians (all of whom would find themselves in the same space), there are politicians that still standout relative to their peer politicians. Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan etc are considered highly charismatic speakers & interpersonal individuals. They would be able to work a room mu…

It’s not useless to discuss one of the many factors that goes into something. I specifically referenced that one because that’s literally the subject of this thread…

I said “in part” which means it’s not the sole factor or even the primary factor. What I said stands true because it is a factor.

Oh yeah I would agree with that. I’m a woman btw, and an introverted one at that. I’ve always gravitated towards men whose presence is felt in the room. Like who fill up space and own it. They tend to have larger social proofs as opposed to someone that might make me feel seen & heard on a 1:1 basis but who doesn’t have the level of charisma that translates to a wide net if that makes sense.

Ah I see. So basically someone who excels in 1:1 interactions vs the social butterfly who is working his way around the room?

I mean, they go hand in hand. People usually gain social status in part by having social skills. But on a separate note, I think if you are pretty good looking, you can get away with being a loner. In a lot of movies, the new guy that just started at a new school might not have friends yet but if he’s good looking, cool, dresses well & exudes an air of mystery, it’s still pretty attractive. It translates the same way IRL.

Out of curiosity, where do you think women’s cynicism towards men stems from?

& funny enough, the last bit hits home for me, actually. I have a childhood best friend that didn’t lose her virginity until she was about 24. She was, in many ways, a good girl from when we were 14-24 & for whatever reason, has gone rogue in the past few years following a breakup a few years back. She told me months ago that she had signed up for some kink-based dating sites, and even told me that she wanted to look into having an orgy. I told a guy I was talking to at the time & he raised red …

Lmao this is hilarious. Look up “Thai Nguyen” (the barber) on either IG or Tiktok & let me know what you think.

Yeah, these are all fair points. I would agree.

& there are other elements you didn’t address. When it comes to proper hygiene, grooming, looking after themselves, dressing well, smelling good, many men aren’t particularly good at that & then wonder why women don’t give them second glances. Some men could boost their appearance with a decent haircut or hairstyling for example. Working on their wardrobe. Stepping up their scent game. Little tweaks.

You’re accusing me of a lot of bias but I don’t think you recognize that you, too, have your own share of biases. Who do you reckon traditionally and even contemporary takes on the larger share of emotional labor in relationships?

Hmmm fair take. I could see how that’s the case.

I never said it was every woman or the majority. For the record, I think there’s a minority of high quality people all around. It’s just my opinion that there’s more quality women than men. That doesn’t mean that I automatically think there’s a surplus of quality women, north of 50% or whatever it is you’re presuming. Not even close.

I mean, I respect your perspective. If you had to put a ratio to it, do you think there’s a 1:1 ratio for quality men to quality women? Or do you think one of the groups edges out the other, even if it’s slightly?

Oh that’s absolutely fair & I hear you. Out of curiosity, would you mind elucidating some of the traits that women consider green flags in themselves that are likely red flags to men?

I’ve just defined it right above.

Uh…I’m speaking about quality as in all-around. Women who look good, they’re fit, they’ve done the inner work on themselves, been to therapy, doing well career wise, well educated, great careers, fun, kind, emotional in tune with themselves and have the capacity to be in tune with their significant other, take care of themselves, have hobbies, have a wide array of interests, & are looking to support & be in service to a partner (their mindset isn’t just what can I take from this man but they wan…

That’s a fair take but maybe it’s my own personal biases but I feel like there are more quality women than there are quality men. I don’t think it’s a 1:1 ratio. & a lot of the quality men tend to be taken off the market rather quickly so you have a bunch of quality women grasping at slim pickings.

I don’t agree with this take at all. As a woman, I find so few men attractive. & my friends feel the same exact way. There’s a wider net of women men find attractive vs the percentage women find attractive. So women are actually more likely to settle from that POV. Tbh that’s one of my theories for why there are so many sexless marriages out there. Women get pressured into marrying even though the man in front of them isn’t necessarily their preference, they have their kid, & they don’t really h…

I don’t necessarily agree with his point but his point was that men & women value different things. Men value youth & beauty while women value a man that can give her a certain lifestyle & is stable. So insofar as that man is able to provide her with that lifestyle, she cares less about his looks etc. & I think he has a point. To your point, I think men underestimate how much we women also want our men to be sexy and physically desirable. So while a well to do man who is balding, fat etc can get…
