i agree with traditionalist.

men dont HAVE to brag about it because they are expected to be it.

i love to see posts like this here. i find this sub is usually too busy complaining and never suggesting how to make strides to change things, so it's nice to see actual productive actions
/r/MensRights27/01/14 01:44 AM

how about 'women that choose to take on a traditional gender role' ?
/r/MensRights27/01/14 12:06 AM

sue youtube for discrimination? what?? youtube is allowed to take down any videos they want.
/r/MensRights26/01/14 11:36 PM
1

i dont think cooperative is the right word though. a woman chooses to not take the traditional role isnt being uncooperative
/r/MensRights26/01/14 11:31 PM
1

you can't just sue someone for pain and suffering. it's not illegal to cause someone pain and suffering. that is something that is added onto a lawsuit for extra compensation
/r/MensRights26/01/14 11:28 PM

ohhhh okay, gotcha!
/r/MensRights26/01/14 11:24 PM

i dont understand what you mean by women are over represented? you say that women are 'close' to half of med students, but women are 51% of the population so how are we over represented?

An adopted child doesn't have any financial rights from biological parents. this is only because the adopted parents take the burden away from the biological parents
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:34 PM
3

i totally disagree. how are they the same thing at all?
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:32 PM

this is my issue with the financial abortion thing. i understand that it is unfair that men get no say, but i feel like a financial abortion only punishes the child.

the person is going on the belief that many MRAs here on reddit have- that no matter what the courts always side with the mother and the father is always the loser in custody
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:30 PM

Pro-Choice'rs claim that a fetus is not a human life i disagree with this. most pro choice people don't really care about the 'human life' aspect. our view is that a woman has a right to decide if she wants to bring the baby to term or not. it has nothing to do with when the fetus becomes a baby. IMO a fetus becomes a human life when the mother decides she is going to carry to term
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:24 PM

i dont get why this comment is downvoted considering it is proving your point

according to this site women only account for 1/3rd of DRs
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:14 PM

someone else in this thread said that 70% of ob/gyns are men. and student rates arent always the best indicators of actual professional rates
/r/MensRights26/01/14 10:09 PM

i read the comment wrong, ha. i read whale as while. but i still dont like that comment. having a good body is much harder for a woman than just not eating like a whale. we have to work out too
/r/MensRights26/01/14 09:48 PM

this seems to be a major issue that reddit MRAs cant grasp. they take these one person point of views and act like they are the norm.

are most pediatricians women, or are most women that are doctors are pediatricians. because i thought men dominate the medical field?

men and women both suffer from unattainable social standards.
/r/MensRights26/01/14 09:27 PM

i like that you discount eating disorders as 'not eating for a while' oops i read not eating like a whale as not eating for a while. my bad!

no bail on a DV case??? yeah...not so much
/r/MensRights16/01/14 06:34 PM

wait you seriously think the sex of the child was at play here?
/r/MensRights16/01/14 06:29 PM

i could not agree with you more. also i like that this sub says that they arent misogynistic but then they use phrases like 'the pussy pass'

i know at least 5 stay at home dads.
/r/MensRights16/01/14 05:59 PM

see, i think your brother is equally as shitty in this situation. yeah, she should have put him on the birth certificate, but he obviously doesnt care that much if he is just letting her do whatever she wants in regards to the kid
/r/MensRights16/01/14 04:00 PM
1

why didnt he take her to court? it's hard for me to feel that bad for the man in this situation when he didnt even try to go to court and get custody
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:59 PM
1

if you are married you are automatically considered the child's legal father
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:58 PM
1

wait- i thought in order to be named on the birth certificate the dad has to sign off?
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:56 PM
3

really? women entering the work force changed men's roles from being exclusively 'providers' to also being care takers and homemakers
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:50 PM

and most men dont recognize unfairness to women until their female friend gets knocked down. it goes both ways
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:48 PM

personally, i don't think being a feminist and believing in mens rights are mutually exclusive. i am a feminist that supports most men's rights issues
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:48 PM

isnt that what a lot of MRM advocate with financial abortions though?
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:20 PM

false equivalency. because your situation would force the woman to carry to term.
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:19 PM

ps there are plenty of women that dont get paid maternity leave.
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:15 PM

wait- do MRAs think that women dont want their male partners to not have paternity leave? every mom i know would kill to have their partner home with them for those 6 weeks
/r/MensRights16/01/14 03:14 PM

the entire point of this show is to show people acting completely disgusting and horrible.....

the nfl player that murdered his girlfriend and then killed himself is being treated like a victim. this is not necessaryily a gender problem but a problem with our society when it comes to domestic violence.
/r/MensRights05/12/12 03:35 PM

"abandon the kid at a "Safe Haven" shelter and walk away from all parental responsibilities and obligations, no questions asked. " to be fair these laws werent created to make not being a mother easy, they are spicifically designed to prevent parents from killing their newborns.

We plan to speak with as many local attorneys as possible to deny her options. ummmm this is fucked up in my opinion. what has she done to warrant such behavior from your dad?
/r/MensRights20/11/12 01:51 AM

why does it have to be a rape culture for men or a rape culture for women? we just live in a society with a rape culture. it's not about gender there.

how would a non profit advocate agency get access to prison rape victims??? i work as a sexual assualt victim's advocate and i work with both male and female victims. but the fact is it's very hard to get into the prisons to do any work, LET ALONE work with victims of assault. the work of a sexual assault advocate is to be there for victims that reach out or are forced into the system by police/ emt contact. even if a male prisoner was able to call our hotline and report a rape we would have to …
/r/MensRights29/06/12 05:46 PM

CPS only has so many days after initial contact to make a decision. START HOUNDING the social worker. call them every single day. call your local victims advocacy center (not just for domestic violence) and get an advocate.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 09:59 PM

this is not just a men's issue though. as a woman i'm sick of all cleaning/household commercials being aimed at me. oh wow, i can be the perfect wife and mother if i can do a load of laundry while i bake a cake! advertising loves stereotypes.
/r/MensRights05/06/12 09:54 PM

why are you assuming she is lying because they cannot move forward with charges??
/r/MensRights05/06/12 09:49 PM

when did i ever deny what men did????? oh yeah, i didnt. but stop discrediting women for something that isnt even true.
/r/MensRights28/05/12 01:42 AM

well something lie 75% of incarcerated mothers are their children's sole provider when they go away. that is not the same for incarcerated men.
/r/MensRights28/05/12 12:51 AM

oh yes, because most women stayed home living lives of leisure. poor women have always worked

slurs are not cheeky remarks. they are slurs. you can be funny and make fun of people and groups without using slurs. if a person uses a slur, i cant take them seriously anymore.

so wait, because he is 'part' jewish he cant be homophobic or racist??????????? im jewish and know lots of racist/homophobic jews.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 07:46 PM

bull dyke is a homophobic slur. that's all there is to it. i dont know how you can argue that it's not....
/r/MensRights27/05/12 07:45 PM
1

the least likely?????? its actually EXTREMELY common in female prisons
/r/MensRights27/05/12 12:29 PM
3

that actually isnt true. the rate of women raped in prison is about the same/a bit higher as men. in female prisons there is a significantly higher rate of male guards raping female inmates.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 12:29 PM
1

the rate of male prisoners assaulted by female guards is extremely low. while the rate of female inmates being assaulted by male guards is much higher.

he was told to stop the butt shaking and he kept doing it.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 12:18 PM

he was suspended for not following the rules. he was told at least twice he could absolutely not do that song and dance. overkill suspending him? yeah. but this isnt some sexual harassment mens rights issue
/r/MensRights27/05/12 12:17 PM

i would assume that people actually effected by that slur- lesbians- cant just hear that term and think 'oh well! he didnt mean it like THAT!' there is no reason anyone needs to use homophobic or racist slurs
/r/MensRights27/05/12 12:15 PM

i think trying to turn this number into a fathers rights issue is INSANE. it is WAY too broad of a statistic to say that it is about custody issues. there are way too many other factors playing into these numbers. i would imagine a huge one being that one out of every fifteen black men are incarcerated.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:45 AM
2

ummm i think many black men are burdened by the criminal justice system. what does that have to do with misandry?
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:38 AM
1

this community cant handle that, ha. custody disputes are really as far as the advocating goes from what i read on here
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:36 AM
5

yeah in a recent post someone had made a comment about the struggles of a black man, and someone felt the need to reply and cross out black, and let him know its ALL MEN. so condescending
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:35 AM
2

well, based on this subreddit, there are never any real discussions of the many different cultural influences that have resulted in so many single mothers. there are never really many posts about the struggles black men specifically face. mostly black men are only brought up in this subreddit when someone is making posts like this one
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:33 AM

im not sure what youre trying to say in relation to rape fantasies
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:29 AM

how about having to have a hysterectomy or some other surgery as a result of your violent rape?? that's a missing body part.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:18 AM
3

unless you get AIDs, or pregnant, or violently physically attacked during the rape
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:16 AM
5

that is not the same thing........
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:14 AM
-1

except to make that conclusion you would have to ignore the fact that infants do not have the same rights to their body as adults. babies can't consent because they're babies! victims of date rape cant consent because they are too intoxicated.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:13 AM
-2

but it's equalizing the rights of infants and adults. the fact is that parents are legally allowed to choose to cut or not. infants do not have the same expectations of bodily autonomy as adults that are date raped. so it doenst make sense to compare them.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:10 AM
3

justifications are based on context. you can't just compare justifications and remove the context from each topic.
/r/MensRights27/05/12 10:06 AM

no i got it, but it doesnt make sense as a response to my comment.....

in what system do prosecutors get significant monetary sums for victims?
/r/MensRights26/05/12 07:11 AM
-1

okay i'm just commenting because maybe one person will read this and it will make them think- there are different types of victims that lie. while some may be malicious, others are usually influenced by the surrounding traumas of their rape and being part of the justice system. (this goes for both genders). so some of those that falsely accuse are like this- -once court proceedings begin the victim (usually because of criticism from family friends and peers) decides that she doesnt want to go th…

ok he gained 13% of what he SHOULD be. but really he is a 200 pound boy that gained 7 pounds over three weeks. if this mother really had no shit in keeping this kid on track he would have probably gained back more than 7 pounds in the first week. cut this family a little slack. mother and son have been apart for 8 months. they are readjusting to each other, i dont think 7 pounds in three weeks means the mother should lose her rights and sole custody be granted to the uncle.
/r/MensRights12/05/12 06:17 AM
-2

i can see how this story seems like the court just gave the child to the mother because courts favor women, but i would say it has much more to do with the way child services works. the goal of child services is to reunite the family. 7 pounds in three weeks does not mean she is not holding up his diet what so ever. CPS is trying their hardest to keep the family together. and if it was a single father family and the child went to the aunt the results would be the same.
/r/MensRights12/05/12 06:15 AM
-2

no i'm not sure if you are familiar with the way child services work. they will ALWAYS reunite the family as soon as possible. that's the goal of cps (less kids to take care of in the system)
/r/MensRights12/05/12 06:12 AM

yeah you could talk to them and all of them will say things are extremely different for women in sports now. i just dont understand how you can argue that?
/r/MensRights08/05/12 07:46 PM
2

ummmm your stats are about high school seniors. not exactly proof that women dont want to play sports not to mention i dont trust libertarian think tanks.
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:45 PM
1

no it's not. please show me a source that say men like to play sports more than women.
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:22 PM

how could women's sports gain fans, interest, and revenue if there were barely any teams for the girls to play on growing up?????????????
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:19 PM

can you show me stats that prove more men want to play college sports than women??????????????
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:17 PM

if you need evidence you can talk to most women that were in school before title ix. seriously my mom, aunts, her friends, all the adult women in my life have expressed this
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:16 PM

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??????????? how can you even make a statement like this?????????
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:14 PM

ummmm your baseball team wouldnt have gotten larger if there were no girls sports??????
/r/MensRights08/05/12 04:11 PM

everyone made the team, i went to a school with 25 kids in each grade.

/r/MensRights07/05/12 09:53 PM

but doesnt this fly in the face of the belief that many posters here have- women don't make as much money because they dont want to work as hard/as many hours.
/r/MensRights07/05/12 09:49 PM

but it's not a zero sum game between genders, it's for every person that works.

this comment is just.....untrue
/r/MensRights07/05/12 09:43 PM

you probably dont want my links, im not a MRA (i do advocate for fair custody and sexual assault victims, and since both these issues impact men i read stuff here)

the comments in this post are very surprising. why isnt this post filled with comments about the OP educating themselves? who cares who this particular arguement is with, being able to articulate what you are passionate about is extremely important. my suggestion- read, read, read, read, read, read, and keep reading more. and look up every word you dont know.
/r/MensRights07/05/12 04:35 PM

comments like these are why people hate this subreddit. you guys claim you arent sexist and yet someone can comment that they dont give a fuck what women think. and it has 3 upvotes.
/r/MensRights07/05/12 04:32 PM

yeah this still confuses me. do you mean when it was first initiated?
/r/MensRights07/05/12 04:25 PM

i think the more important question here is how much time are convicted rapists serving compared to ALL other crimes (including non violent like drugs)
/r/MensRights07/05/12 04:22 PM

but the idea for the freshman boys is that they will get bigger stronger and better through the years. so while they may not play their first year the coach is still considering them to be future assets. they did not look at the girls that way. it's not so much ability level. sure i bet 1 girl every few years is good enough to get to play. but from what i experiences the girls had to have WAY more ability than their male counterparts to be taken seriously.

i'm not a lawyer but here are things i would suggest- -pre write everything you want to accomplish. READ up on mediation in the state and what type (there are different styles) of mediation is most used -dont mention any petty drama between you and your ex. keep your reasons for custody clean and simple and cut out all fighting words/things that could be seen as petty. -focus on your child and you. NOT the faults of your ex are you going for full custody? because the best way to be successful in…

why did those wrestling teams have to be canceled? many schools have allowed girls to join their wrestling teams, and im sure those 300 programs could have done the same?
/r/MensRights07/05/12 03:58 PM

sexual harassment? i dont think thats the correct term for this. i went to two separate schools with co-ed sports teams and that never happened......what did happen was though that girls were shut out of most sports by 9th grade because 1-parents felt it was dangerous to play with boys 2-the girls didnt get playing time anyway
/r/MensRights07/05/12 03:56 PM
4

i went to two small private schools from 6-9th grade that had mostly co-ed teams. in 9th grade i wanted to play lacrosse but we had no girls lacrosse team so i would have had to join the boy's team. my parents would not allow it because i would have been playing a physical contact sport with 18 year old boys. that would have been dangerous for me.

do you have sources on the tough sentences claim?? here in PA the average sentence is actually pretty low compared to most violent crimes
/r/MensRights07/05/12 03:29 AM

how do you really know everything will be handled? what if the person (doesnt matter the gender) behind you sees that same distressed child and makes their move? most kids that are kidnapped arent dragged off kicking and screaming. they walk off with adults because they dont understand not to. i guess there are some situations in which it is obvious they are going to be helped...but i think its just instinct for some people to help.
/r/MensRights06/05/12 10:35 PM

i think it's comparable but very different because of the outcomes for the (white) dad vs the black driver. the dad most likely will be allowed to explain himself and walk away (maybe after a few hours) with the police calling it a misunderstanding on the other hand the black driver is more likely to be arrested, roughed around, facing high bails etc
/r/MensRights06/05/12 09:06 PM

is it though? you could just let yourself walk away from an obviously distressed child?

i heard a really great story on NPR about a father trying to get his kid back from his wife when she up and moved back to her home country in south america. she told him she was going there to attend a wedding/have a vacation. http://bringseanhome.org/resources/about-bshf/

here's the thing-most people don't give a fuck about secret laws. they dont think about them. however they will be pissed when they turn on abc and see that members of the armed forces are not receiving pay because congress and the president couldnt decide on something
/r/MensRights06/05/12 08:45 PM
1

what kind of lawsuits could you bring though?? it's not illegal to be suspicious of someone
/r/MensRights06/05/12 08:43 PM
2

not having the same last name as your kids can be a pretty big hassle too though. like with school and such
/r/MensRights06/05/12 08:41 PM
1

the difference between these two situations is that when the white kid gets pulled over the cops basically just tell them to get out of there and go back home to the suburbs. maybe they get a ticket. the black kid though, is going to searched, arrested, roughed around etc
/r/MensRights06/05/12 08:38 PM

they feel like the person doesnt belong there because they are black though sooooo yeah, it's about racism.

i hope seeing statistics like this encourages MRA to get more active in their communities rape crisis centers. because male advocates really help male victims get through the legal process.

here is some honest criticism of it- you dont have many facts. while yes you include statistics (what are you sources on some of these numbers??) they dont prove the points you are trying to make. the paragraph about transportation comes off as very sexist. you assume that the main reason women need to use the transportation after hours is for SHOPPING. you use a stereotype to demean the entire gender right there. then you say that the women are getting their money from their male counterparts! …

if you were living with her you would surely be paying more than 20% of your gross income to care for the children, right?? i get people bitching about alimony but she is raising FOUR of your kids. 20% doesnt seem like an outrageous amount for that...

if you are not on the birth certificate how did she sue you for support? and if paternity has been established have you considered petitioning for mandated visitation schedule so she can not limit it?

as opposed to a post like this?? or does this (and every other one posted here) not count because you are real victims?? i dont get it, in this subreddit a big complaint of feminist is the 'constant victim narrative' but the majority of the posts are about horrible bitchy feminists talking bad about men. or you know, creating a narrative of oppression. i come to this place because as a feminist and a victim's advocate i am interested in the problems men face as victims and fathers. but the major…

why is it so bad to admit privilege? the MRA would benefit if more of their members (some do, exception to the rule from what ive seen though) owned up to the privilege they have from being the things listed in the this title. privilege does not negate your issues. to be honest i think this movement will NEVER get ahead until you are able to put forth an argument that shows why you have these problems even though (or as a result of) institutionalized power

ummm no that is not what i am saying at all. i never mentioned 'man up' or anything like that at all. i am only mentioning that there is emotion there that people here seem to ignore. this has nothing to do with gender roles, women, society ANYTHING other than how that man is feeling

because you want to be a parent and you have just spent 9 months of your life preparing to be the parent of this child. how can you be part of a movement that advocates for the rights of fathers and yet acts as if men are so unfazed by this situation that they can just walk away without a second thought? maybe you need to remember that people follow their emotions all the time, even if it hurts them and their investment of time and money.

why does anyone stay in an unhealthy relationship??? you are trying to apply rational thinking to two irrational things-love and dysfunction.

what about men that are in a long term relationship with the child's mother. he spent 9 months preparing to be a father, and loving the unborn baby. these are the men that are not in a 'win/win' situation for automatic DNA testing. is it good they find out, sure i guess. but maybe not everyone wants to know that, and because men arent emotionally robots i doubt most men are ready to leave instantly.

not legal advice but now that you have been granted full custody i would file a petition to establish child support. even if the court only orders her to pay 25 bucks a month at least it will be official for situations like this

there is no reason they should, but love is a motherfucker that is hard to turn off. plus i would guess there would likely be manipulation going on by the woman

i'm not a MRA so i usually don't leave a lot of comments here but i have to step in to ask this because i'm genuinely wondering- isn't there more to this then just DNA and money? 'totally win/win' makes it sound like it would be so simple for a man, that spent the last 9 months loving the unborn baby as his own,to just walk away from the baby and the mother. and if he does walk right when he finds out the child isn't biologically his, then that's it. he's lost any legal right he has to be the da…

your stats are only talking about victims that are raped by staff. i'm not sure how you are reading those numbers and walking away with the conclusion that women are more likely to be the abusers than men in prisons.
