A person who uses excessive force is one step closer to a lot of legal trouble courtesy of the police. So it really turns into a fuck those who can't control their violence.

Excessive force can get somebody arrested. One has a right to defend themselves, but that does not mean using more force than necessary.

I would be concerned about the level of force used. I cannot see too clearly how the woman touched the man, but it looks like a clear case of disproportionate force.

The required 24 hours is imposed on anti-abortion politicians, and on that basis, yes it is an oppression. There are clinics specifically setup to do abortions, many by appointment, and that is when you see the 24 hours thing being imposed. This is also not counting other policies such as requiring to show the ultrasound. It might not be the end of the world for a woman, but its whole basis as a legal requirement is part of a larger movement against women's rights.

If it is legit that the mother doesn't know and she isn't likely to be lying then it would be a good faith effort.

Considering the many definitions of that, I am not sure whether to take offense or not. I do become concerned with some things said here, but overall I believe that feminism is a cancer. I am for fairness - which in cases like this one are very murky as to what that is.

Sex is a reproductive act and if the couple agreed to have sex then they have consented to the risks if prevention fails. The mother should not be able to terminate unless: a) her health is at risk, or b) both consent. She should not have the right to deny the father-to-be the privilege of that station without his agreement. She previously agreed to it via consensual sex.

I have read it. I won't carry on this line because there may be something to the idea. Something I will say is that "man up" as a way of saying "take responsibility" is some how disturbing to me.

But you have the moral authority to prevent it by forcing an abortion?

Perhaps marriage does have utility.
/r/MensRights29/03/11 12:04 AM

I cannot speak for the latter, but the former is logically sound for the previous conditions. Perhaps abortion shouldn't just be a one sided choice.

#2 and #3 discounts the value of the parents and the damage that can be done by removal. It also is disproportionate on less well off people. The better option would be some form of short term or long term support. I would also suggest that the child welfare system is already overworked and overcrowded.

Not to have sex would have been a good start. Adoption should require both to agree, not just one party. Sex = Agreeing to have baby if protection are not perfect.

It is not a crime to abandon a car so much as it is for people. Bad analogy.

Parenthood in this case is an opt in (by sex), and why should the state (i.e. US) have to pay for somebody's child? It is irresponsible to force the state to pay, unless one of them can't. If that is the case, then it is irresponsible to have sex to begin with.
/r/MensRights28/03/11 10:51 PM

I don't think that is implied at all. His rights was to not have sex, have protection, have a vasectomy. All he must accept the consequences if any of those (last two) fail, because the first option was available. Her responsibility is a consequence of her previous actions in the same form - don't have sex, have protection, or tie the tubes. She has the extra option of abortion because it is her body and no one else should be able to control it. Adoption is a right that should require both paren…

I am a little concerned over your wording of "necessary control." I don't think a thirteen year old needs something like that, this may be a mistake on her part and hopefully one she learns from. This is independent on what should or should not happen to him.

Certainly not after what I have read about the first two guys. But what we have in Canada does seem to work. It might be a problem with the vast differences in the political systems.

I cannot fathom why a country would leave a judge and prosecutor position to be elected, experience and qualifications tend to take a back seat to the populist vote.

I don't understand your link, but I recall growing up seeing things like girls wearing shirts that stopped at the belly button or more recently the really short shorts/skirts. I usually think of the word 'whore' to describe people that wear these things Of course, I am a prude who wears a dress shirt to University.

If you see the dog running at you with enough time to think of size and reaction. I am obviously making an assumption here that you think it is an attack. There is the 'knee-jerk' reaction, and then there is the better considered defence.

If I was being attacked by a dog (and I am fearful of most dogs - childhood thing) it wouldn't matter what the size of the dog was. I would do what is necessary to protect myself. Now in practise that means less force against the smaller dog - but it depends if you have the ability to prepare.

Symbolically they are similar. They may not have all of the same effects, but think about it like this: The drugs are mind altering, and combined with some of the anti-maleness that some boys experience can cause mental illness during their life. The removal of the jewels can cause certain physical and mental problems as well. It may be seen as more terrible to have the bilateral orchiectomy, but the 'soft' effects of drugs are just potentially as bad.

I just read the law, it is great writing. I wish laws were written as clearly now. Whosoever shall be guilty of Rape, Polygamy, or Sodomy with man or woman shall be punished, if a man, by castration, if a woman, by cutting thro' the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch diameter at the least.

There you go! Thinking how it could be packaged. Now can we get a bowtie for it?
/r/MensRights22/02/11 05:56 PM

Sometimes it is all about the packaging. A hundred years ago the idea of drugging up boys for being boys would have been not well received I would suspect.
/r/MensRights22/02/11 05:55 PM

Certainly not. It is an honest question, it only sounds inflammatory because it is cutting off a body part instead of drugging.
