And do you have a mismatched sex drive with your wife? Is there a big asymmetry in sexual interest in your relationship? I’ve lost the plot of what point your trying to make. Women like sex dude, women get horny
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/23 06:20 PM

Can you be more specific about what part of my comment you found confusing? Sexism is not cool, it doesn’t matter what the intentions are behind it.

No, I think women are less likely to masterbate than men because they pick up stigma about it at an early age and then when polled later in life they answer honestly that they don’t masterbate often. I didn’t say they were lying to the pollsters out of stigma, I said that the real differences are likely learned from the presence of stigma already in the culture. More importantly, even if women are less likely to look at porn or masterbate that says nothing about their desires to have relationshi…

What is the research? And I don’t doubt that most studies will find men jerk off more or claim to think about sex more, I just find it doubtful that that is anything more than the lingering impact of slut-shaming puritanical values being imposed on women. More importantly, regardless of averages and statistics, you can find extremely horny women out there. I’m just not sure I follow what value there is in making broad assumptions about people based on surface level information like their gender …

People like playing dress up, they like showing off, they may even like receiving glances and attention, but that does not give you permission to treat them disrespectfully because of how they present themselves

I’ve had fun from dating apps, met my gf of 6 years on bumble. But dating apps do suck and can be really bad for your mental health. it’s good not to rely on them heavily, you should focus mostly on expanding your real life social network and use dating apps as a side supplement at the most. I have never had success with dating apps when I was using them heavily and hoping they would yield something, I have only ever had success with them when I was otherwise content and in a good headspace with…

Women are serial monogamists by nature? Source?

Intentions don’t matter, outcomes matter If your expressed beliefs are in conflict with the well being and freedoms of other people then they probably won’t like you regardless of what your intentions are

Because men are the source of most violence, because most stalkers, rapists, and murderers are men, because most men are physically stronger than most women, because most men who do intend to commit violence are more likely to pick a vulnerable target than attack someone who is likely to be able to defend themselves….

That’s not a matter of individual sexual freedom, that is a matter of an unethical and exploitative corporate industry. I would not say it should be banned but rather taken over by the workers

Harassers don’t have to believe that their victims want to have sex with them, they just believe that they can wear someone down into giving into their demands

How exactly has it “swung to far” the other way? What would be the “right” amount of censorship and repression when it comes to sex?

what evidence do you have for these claims? More importantly, in what way does making assumptions about people’s sexualities based on their gender actually help you navigate the world, interact with people, get laid, or find relationships? In my experience of the world I have found people’s sexualities are so varied that it’s never helpful to make assumptions based on their gender or outward presentation, if you want to get to know someone you just have to get to know them. I also have not in an…

Say “hi” and give them a compliment about their style, something you noticed they may have put work into in their outfit or presentation which reflects their taste and effort rather than a compliment of a body feature they were born with which is just a physical object they can’t change. If they are reserved in their response just say “have a nice evening” and turn away. If they respond positively then try to strike up a conversation. You can’t control what other people think of you or worry if …

1.) maybe most husbands suck in bed and their wives are fantasizing about sleeping with someone else, but since sleeping with someone else = cheering = guilt, the roll of the lover in her head must be played by a scoundrel who doesn’t play by societies rules and will give her what no one else will and take away her agency so she can enjoy herself without feeling responsible for the “naughtiness” of the situation 2.) and 3.) I can’t be bothered with right now I’m too high, chill bro

We are in a negative social cycle, but I would not blame that on feminism. “Feminism means woman are more entitled” yeah for political and social equality, your being ridiculous and bitter. What is true is that we are living through the ramifications of the breakdown in the traditional marriage structure. This breakdown has happened for many reasons, some positive and some negative. I would say the woman’s liberation movement and queer liberation movements were positive while neo-liberal capital…

I totaly agree. All problems of oppression must be dealt with together. Alot of people define the MRM to be a movement for men who are oppressed FOR BEING MEN. Whereas I would if I had my way just define it as a movement for men who are oppressed. Because realy how can anyone possibly scientifically know exactly when a gay man is being discriminated against for being gay but not a man and when he faces discrimination for being a man but not for being gay. Is it not sufficient just to say "hey th…

But I do want to support all men. My point is that you can't look at a gay man and say exactly what types of discrimination are because he is gay but not because he is male and which types are because he is male but not gay. A discussion of problems a gay man faces for being male which does not reference how this interacts with problems he faces for being gay is to me a rather meaningless discussion. You cant say "ok here are problems all men face and then on top of these gay men face additional…

Ok this seems fair. This has not been my impression of the MRM so far. While I understand why you want to stay focused it does seem hard for me to separate out when a gay man is being oppressed for being male and when he is being oppressed for being homosexual regardless of gender. I don't see a very meaningful way to make such a distinction. And you could certainly imagine how someone would use this to make the men's rights movement exclusive, by defining all problems gay men face as being stri…

That was my opinion as well but they do try to claim the Men's Rights banner.

But as you said their are men here advocating for Men's Rights in the form of ending gender roles which have oppressive expectations on men, and then their are men here who advocate "Men's Rights" in that they want a return to even more strict conservative gender roles. These are not just incomparable, these are polar opposite views of what Men's Rights means.

Well all the feminists I know are verry opposed to the traditional male role of not being able to show emotion. It is strange that you would say that feminists are the ones who want men to take on the father figure role in the relationship. In my experience it is always very conservative women who have the expectation to be taken care of like a child or a house pet and feminists who want to show that they are perfectly capable autonomous adults.

I would not idealize the condition of minority families pre-1960s. I am not comming to the defense of all social programs or state action but it does make my skin crawl when someone talks about the segregation era as the good old days for minorities.

To be specific about my last post, lets consider the hyper sexualization of black men within our culture. Is this damaging trend a product of sexism or racism? I would say both. And similarly with allot of issues I don't think you can say that one thing is sexist but not racist while another is racist but not sexist. I think alot of forms of discrimination could be described as racialy charged sexism or maybe sexually charged racism. The experience of racism is certainly different for black men …

fair enough your right its not an organization and perhaps that why I run into such extremely different ideologies which both claim to represent the MRM
/r/MensRights25/01/15 10:03 PM

I would like to think so (referring to your last line), because i agree with the aims of the second type of person who visits these sights. Given that traditional gender roles hurt men in many ways it seems that there realy is no coherent alliance between the two types of people you have mentioned . At some point they need to split and one group will need to find a new name for themselves because as it stands the MRM seems to be co-inhabited by two distinct and incomparable ideologies.

Perhaps I have not given this sub enough of a chance. But I have come across allot of websites, youtube-channals, ect..., which seem to share in the rhetoric of the MRM movement (by talking about Men's Rights, Masculinity, anti-Feminism, ect..) which are blatantly homophobic at times. For example, do you consider Return of Kings to be a Men's Rights movement website? They certainly see themselves that way.

I had not seen the posts about police brutality and wars in third-world countries but I will take your word for it. I think that the nature of how homophobia affects a person is modified by their gender. You seem to agree that there are allot of issues which are both Men's rights issues LGBT issues. Perhaps I just haven't been looking in the right places yet but it does seem to me like Men's-GBT isues are underrepresented here in the MRM. I have also seen alot of websites (maybe there not all in…
